Who: Brie Cormac and Mina Barrett and OPEN
What: Furniture shopping
Where: All across town
When: Just after sunset
Notes: Feel free to run into them at any furniture/deco store.
Warnings: None yet

It pained Brie not to live with Mina - she had done so for nearly a year before arriving here. But the thought of complete darkness when she was allowed to feel sunlight was too unbearable. But despite moving in with Jones, she was determined to see Mina regularly and often, especially with the anti-vampire movement going on.

Thus, now the proud renter of an empty room, Brie needed to get some new furniture and there was no one better than Mina to take her shopping.

Who: Anna and Mina
What: a heart-to-heart, bonding despite themselves, so much estrogen
Where: their room in the basement of the Valhalla Inn
When: Givdi, before dawn
Warnings: none

They saw each other so rarely, it seemed, which should have been difficult to manage, sharing the same room. But with all her work at Hellsing, Anna found herself spending the vast majority of her time around Sobek Croix.

And, she was willing to admit, she thought she liked it that way. Mina and Anna had never gotten along; it had taken the mutual confusion of Baedal to bring them to something like an alliance. But she hadn't forgotten their first conversation here, either, when Mina let her out of that terrible small room. Now, when she thinks of Doctor Barrett as a heretic, or mocks her for dressing like a man, it's more old habit than anything -- something she clings to, because it feels normal.

Well, it has been long enough, and maybe it's time to drop the act. This city is proving to be as potentially deadly as Chicago, with none of the Kindred order, and no Masquerade to protect them. Strange to think, but perhaps they need one another. It's why Anna waits in their room, as the night comes to an end. Mina will arrive sooner or later -- she has to.

Who: Brie, Mina, Anna and Jones
What: Meeting up with Brie, as she apparently wants to see everyone from her world
Where: The Valhalla Inn, Brie's room
When: Just after nightfall (though Jones can feel free to come beforehand)
Warnings: None

Brie watched as the sun went down over the horizon. She thought about Luke -- she could still feel the strong grip of his hands as she was being pulling away.

Everything had happened so suddenly. Despite what Anna has told her, Brie is still convinced that the Fae are at work in this world. They clearly proved themselves of teleporting an entire city and its residents to a world that shouldn't exist. What's to say they couldn't teleport all of Chicago's residents to random worlds?

Brie didn't know why she had asked to see Anna and Jones so immediately, but if there were going to be familiar faces in this place, she wants to stick together. There's always strength in numbers, and unless they actively refused, Brie would want Anna and Jones on her side.

Sitting down on her bed, she waited for her guests to arrive.

Who: Mina and YOU
What: A "thank God we're not dead" party
Where: Common Room, Valhalla Inn
When: Wednesday evening
Notes: Party log; please specify if you're tagging someone in particular, or if it's open season on your character
Warnings: Angering Mina probably results in unhappiness

There were two things Mina rarely did; over-indulge and wear dresses. Tonight, she decided, was a night to throw both inhibitions to the wind. And so, as she made her way up to the common room, she made her way in style, wearing a slinky crimson gown with no back and a plunging neckline. She looked good. Classy, as any society woman of her day. Well, the 1930s, anyway, since she would always consider her day to be the 1720s, really. The only drawback of the dress was that it left both her pirate brand and her Valkyrien Amazon tattoo uncovered, but at this point, Mina was fairly certain that no one would recognize or care about either marking.

The room had been arranged to her satisfaction. She enjoyed ostentation immensely, but opted for a more low-key take on the celebrations. The lights were pleasantly dimmed and there was jazz music playing out of some marvelous contraption that Mina had borrowed. Around the room, she had a few trays of food arranged. Since Mina had no sense of taste to speak of, she hired someone to take care of the food and drinks. The only culinary arrangement she had made for herself was a special mixed drink; store-bought blood (dreadful though it was) laced with ample amounts of rum. That was being kept under a table for now.

She glanced at her reflection in the mirror, adjusting the angle of her fedora slightly. There was no telling what to expect tonight. And frankly, given her experiences in Chicago, she probably should have known better to arrange for any kind of public affair. But Mina was in a bad mood and when she was in a bad mood, she tended to revert into her flippant, false persona to spare herself of too much thought. Besides, she was in the mood to dance with someone handsome.

Who: Jones and Mina Barett
What: Having The [Jones is Not a Vampire] Talk
Where: Jones's room, the Valhalla Inn
When: Givdi night
Warnings: None, yet

This may have been a terrible idea. For all she knows, Barrett is in a fighting mood, and this is going to end messily for one or the both of them.

Then again, a significant amount of the fault here lies on her own shoulders, and, well—she can't really blame Barrett for having the reaction that she did. And she really would prefer to at least be on amicable terms for the time being, since they seem to be stuck here together, for better or for worse. So she sits cross-legged on her bed, and waits for the knock on the door.

Who: The staff and residents of the Valhalla Inn with a special guest appearance by the Militia.
What: A lock-down. A shake-down. Some questions.
Where: The Valhalla Inn. Different locations will be designated by different subthreads.
When: Early Coardi morning and into the afternoon.
Notes: OOC Discussion
Warnings: None yet, but expect (subtle) threats, coercion, and general jackboot'n'blackbag shenanigans.

Rumour travels fast in Baedal; soon everyone in Mog Hill and beyond will know that the Militia are at the Valhalla Inn and no one is getting out. Official word is that this is strictly routine; protocol dictates Arrival Houses be locked down for evaluation after a City-wide crisis. It's still early morning. Outside, the sun is rising after a night of gentle rain. Birds sing and gorge themselves on dead monkeys yet to be cleared away. It's going to be a beautiful day.

Meanwhile, inside Valhalla, the Militia have firmly requested that every guest, every employee and every incidental visitor gather in the Common Room as they search the rest of the Inn. The proprietor and her staff are visibly unhappy about the event, but the closest they have come to voicing dissent is managing to call for the Sheriff. Still, so far the gentleman who seems to be in charge of the proceedings has been nothing but curtly polite. The Militia works fast; they have gone through the whole place in less than an hour and are now, as they say, ready to take interviews. These will be conducted one-on-one in a different room of the Inn. Most individuals who arrived after the creature invasion are sorted out and escorted outside of the building. Some, however, are not.

None of the Special's agents or their more thuggish companions say so, at least not out in the Common Room, but it is evident that their search turned up something.

Who: Mina and Castiel
What: Either a date or an exercise in poor decision-making
Where: A pub
When: The end of monster week (back-dated)
Notes: None
Warnings: None yet

Mina made it a point to arrive at the pub earlier, after doing a cursory job of tidying up a bit. She had managed to wash most of the blood off of her, but she was hardly as put-together as she usually liked. The sleeves of her purple button-down were rolled up, her collar unbuttoned, her tie untied. Normally, she liked to be meticulous with her appearance (perhaps due to so many years of having to hide certain parts of her body) but the onslaught outside had set Mina's priorities, if nothing else. Quite frankly, she hated the idea of leaving her first aid station, but she had to feed and meeting with Castiel gave her a reasonable alibi. Fortunately, she had found a few volunteers to mind the shop.

After quickly scanning the room, and making sure that she had arrived first, Mina sidled up to the bar, ordering herself a drink. She took whatever it was that passed for blood around here, having it mixed with copious amounts of alcohol to mask the smell and the texture. She'd call it a 'Bloody Mary' or something. Extra virgin. Although that would apparently offend the Hellsing people.

Taking a sip, she sat down, resting her elbows on the bar, watching the door. What new surprises lay in store tonight, she wondered. Castiel clearly had some kind of agenda. No man ever called her beautiful without having some kind of agenda. Furthermore, she wondered what he was. If he came from 2014, or whatever, and remembered the 20's, he was something other than Human. But what? He hadn't recognized her subtle hint about the Mekhet, so clearly not a Kindred.

If nothing else, it would be interesting...

After finding a job, Apollo had decided to celebrate by taking himself out to explore the city.  He hadn't really taken much time to use the strange train that was used to get around the city, choosing instead to explore nearby areas on foot.

Now that he was actually using the train, he was realizing just how small a scope he'd been seeing.

He was sitting on the train, fiddling with the CiD and looking through recent posts to the network, though he would glance up occasionally to glance around at the other passengers.

Who: Integra Hellsing and Mina Barrett.
What: It's hard to turn down seeking out job opportunities when the suggestion is given to you by Dracula.
Where: The Hellsing Guild Hall.
When: Calling it Saturday Sukkardi night, for ease?
Notes: I got nothin'.
Warnings: Will edit if needed.

Unlike most businesses, after nightfall is when things really begin to pick up at Hellsing. Deliveries from contacts who can't make the trip during the day, more agents coming and going, the occasional grudging visit from something someone didn't quite kill That One Time - be it a mundane evening or the odd night when everything goes completely crazy, the hours cast in the dark are always busier than the ones in the light.

It's why Integra is presently out of her office and standing in the middle of the street in front of the hall itself, smoking a cigarette and checking out the enormous acid-like circular burn left on the pavement with two other employees. While it's certainly not immediately professional to be rubbernecking at the damage done by some godawful thing that's been brought in, she'd had to come out anyway to lend a hand in damage control - there's still gore and ichor on her boots, splattered on her shirt and trousers.

It's not such an uncommon sight.

Who: OPEN, NPCs if needed.
What: A guided trip to the Aspic Bazaar
Where: Aspic
When: Coardi Wednesday Morning
Notes: OOC post here.

It's spring in Baedal and the Bazaar in Aspic is full of life. The sun shines on colourful buildings, bleaching tentweaves draped over market stalls. The air is full of shouts and animal noises, customers haggling with merchants and tradesmen striking deals. Children of different species rush back and forth, unattended in the crowd.

There are a lot of things on display in the market. Local produce and wares sit next to strange and exotic bleed-through goods, all of which the sellers are quick to guarantee the genuineness and legality of. Less honest characters also visit the market, it is generally known as an official stomping ground for one of the city's more notorious criminal enterprises. The city is aware of this, of course, and while Militia presence here is not as keenly felt in other place, it may be noticeable in the cares some people take.

It's still considered a safe place, or as a safe a place full of haves and havenots in a strange city can be. It's certainly considered a safe enough place to send newcomers for quick introduction to local sights and economics.

The (more recent) residents of the Valhalla Inn and anyone on the CeidaryBlue523 Node have been encouraged to visit the place. They have also been encouraged to not go alone.

It's during the beginning of a new cohort that Akalamdug finds himself working longest hours. While that means he ends up spending a little more time away from his kids than he'd like, it's worth it to help newcomers settle in to a job and thereby ease some of their worries about how they'll adjust to Baedal.

With the kettle on and a plate of biscuits at the ready, Akal opens the door to his office in the Valhalla Inn.

Welcome to Baedal.

These are the first words newcomers hear when the door opens and they are invited into their new world. Some fuss, some fight, some need time before they have the courage to step outside. Others, shell-shocked or jaded, go quietly along with the proceedings.

They are given brief instructions; a repeat of what's described in the pamphlet and a door key.

Please stay in your room. There will be dinner soon.

It's been almost a day for some. For others, only an hour's wait. The latest newcomer is lead straight from the arrival room to the dining hall where candles and lanterns have been set out to compensate for failing electricity. (Those who have been here longer explain about rolling blackouts.) The food, however, is warm, varied and plentiful. Seating is open, and less conventional chair are available to those who need them.

There are many strange faces around the table, the majority of these recent arrivals. The proprietor of the Valhalla Inn is here, as is some of her staff. The Sheriff of Mog Hill is introduced, his function detailed. The reason for the dinner is explained:

It's a celebration. A new cohort has finally been officiated; CeidaryBlue523. Your cohort. Please. Introduce yourself. Mingle. Get to know your fellows, they will be your brothers and sisters for as long as you live in this city.
