What: a talk about morals, or possibly the lack thereof
Where: the Apache
When: late afternoon
Notes: this happens after Jason went to visit Steph and met Hermione, and also after he talked to Tim.
Warnings: vigilante philosophizing, moral ramifications, merciless rationalization

He doesn't think about it now, but he might later: Jason's actually really happy. Not the way you're supposed to be happy, maybe, but he's never put any stock in that. The thing is, he's busy and he has a purpose. His talk with Barbara went better than he could have imagined. Even Stephanie and Tim didn't go terribly. But it would be completely remiss to forget Stephanie's friend. He remembers the way she looked the night they killed Henry Jennings. In a lot of ways, he has no patience for that, no sympathy — the Militia are as bad as anybody he's ever killed before, and in certain aspects, worse.

However, he'd also seen how good she was. There's no lone rangering this shit, and she would be an asset, if he can convince her the cause is worthy. Maybe a part of him is still annoyed he never brought Mia around. Though he doubts this Kate is anything like Mia apart from their embrace of archery, it seems apt, in a slightly grim way, that he should be on his way to meet her at the Apache to make his case. This time, there will be 100% less kidnapping and blowing up of stuff. The context is completely different, and anyway, Stephanie would do her damnedest to kill him. If he can't convince her, he'll try his best to leave her in a better frame of mind. Refusing to kill is not necessarily problematic, in his mind. As long as she isn't going to pull a Batman on them, it's not a big deal.

Though Kate hadn't seen his face that night, he's wearing the same jacket, he moves roughly the same way. He glances around the bar for her as he heads towards a booth, where their conversation will likely go uninterrupted.

It takes Alexia a little while to track down the location in the broadcast; at least the human architecture styles are different enough in this city that it's easy to tell one part from another.  A few days of legwork later, she's pretty sure she has the correct address and can decently extrapolate when the owner of the house will be in or not.

At the moment, it's night and she's crouched between two houses across the street, making sure the coast is clear.  Her hand rests, lightly, on the back of Cupcake's carapace as she peers out under the hood of her cloak, checking all directions.

Who: Erik Lensherr THE SHERIFF OF MAFATON and John Allerdyce A SAMIZDAT REPORTER
What: the most awkward interview about murders and heads
Where: Mafaton
When: pretty soon after early transmissions of this event
Notes: if this messes up plot in any way you can blame TK. I am an angel this was TK's idea etc. /flies away like a lawnmower
Warnings: possible gore! Erik saying Magneto things. Newbie journalist mistakes.

When Murrough had his breakdown and retired to Chimer, the editor in chief had called in and hastily promoted their contributing editor. Samizdat is a relatively small operation in comparison to the other newspapers, both out of necessity and choice. You have to be of a certain political mindset to work there; alternately, extremely apathetic. Drinking also helps. Which is not to say that Samizdat doesn't have work ethic, that they aren't a good paper — they are, because they work together. Each and every one of them may be dysfunctional as people (well, he can't actually tell with the graphics department, which consists of one mostly humanoid xenian who doesn't talk), but as cogs of the news machine, they get shit done. He's busted his ass as intern. That isn't really why Lysandra lets him have this interview, though. He knows because she straight up told him that. It's really just a matter of convenience, slight expendability, and also by the way she knows he can control fire so he gets to go to vampiretown, have fun, don't drink on the expense account, that's a joke you don't have access to the expense account, which is a jar of coins on Lysandra's desk.

Lysandra is a witch or something, because he never told her anything and he's never slipped up at work or at the apartment. Well, whatever.

He's not giving this chance up even if the interview is with the Sheriff of Mafaton, also known as Erik Fucking Lensherr, also known as his fucking boss or some shit, jesus fucking christ this is against all the rules of journalism.

In any case, by the time he gets to Mafaton, it's about ten til seven in the morning, which honestly means nothing to him anymore. He's dressed as usual (there was no time to change), one sleeve of his hoodie pulled down over the shark face sleeve, gripping a recorder and a notepad. Eddie could not be located and so the entire graphics department, the praying mantis-like Spring Blossom #23 is with him. Her presence is what makes John send Erik a terse message in addition to the official one Lysandra, as editor in chief, had sent: It's me doing the interview so could you pretend you don't know me. Thanks. It's not clear that Spring Blossom #23 would notice or care if Erik knew John, but he's not taking any chances.

The scene is being cleaned when they arrive, but he can, as usual, spot Erik immediately amidst the bustle, and they head in that direction with only a little wrangling from someone directed to keep people out.

What: Astrid's finally ventured out of her room at the Valhalla and is getting coffee.
Where: Queequeg's
When: Sukkardi, around mid-day
Notes: ...Astrid is awkward?
Warnings: None yet.

It took a couple of days for Astrid to feel comfortable venturing out after Olivia let her out of the room she arrived in. It was a precaution, mostly - if she could try to come to terms with everything being different before she went out, she could probably avoid having a meltdown in public, and she very much wanted to avoid that.

Olivia had mentioned a place that served coffee, and she was more than a little excited by the prospect of being able to drink coffee regularly. That's what drew her outside, eventually - a nice, simple task that would have something she enjoyed involved in it. And she made it without any mishaps.

So now she's sitting at a little table in the corner with a big mug of coffee with cream and sugar and a plate with some sort of danish-like pastry on it, slowly and methodically chipping away at both.

Despite being told that he doesn't need to bring a housewarming present, Sebastian has come to visit Hermione with a gift in hand. Should she be unimpressed, he can always say that the gift -- a cat bed in the shape of a book -- is for Crookshanks and not for her. The bed tucked under his arm is probably the first thing she'll notice about him and the second being he's brought along Velcro; from the short time they roomed together at Hellsing, Hermione is probably well aware that he never goes anywhere without his service animal.

Where: The Best Little Hair House, other locations as you please
When: Misdi-Sukkardi at the salon, any other time anywhere else
Warnings: Bubbly personality? Language? TBA

For as much as she fakes it until she makes it, there are just some days where Felicia honestly doesn't have the energy to act like she has the energy to do anything. The dreams have been especially vivid since she's arrived in Baedal, more so than usual, and they all bother her. None of them are nice dreams, dreams about love and living life to the fullest. They're all filled with unspeakable horrors of faces both familiar and unfamiliar to her. She doesn't know where her subconscious stops and other people's start.

It exhausts her, and Felicia would give anything for an uninterrupted night's sleep. But sleeping bodies don't get fed and neither do angry landlords, so she manages to train herself into swallowing coffee strong enough that a spoon can stand easily upright in until she can make it out of the house and down to the salon. Maybe some bright sunshine or a chilly breeze will wake her up on the way over while she picks up some groceries. Maybe it won't. Maybe the cow will be happy to see her today. Maybe it won't.

No, it definitely won't. Mentos just wants its hay. Greedy cow.

[personal profile] goodsoldier
Who: Barbara Gordon and Jason Todd
What: saying hello
Where: Barbara's residence in Brock Marsh
When: late morning
Notes: "hey I'm alive want to join my secret club"
Warnings: probable FEELINGS

Although he'd told Rex he'd have Barbara contact him, Jason had not even spoken with Barbara; he had no idea if Barbara would even want to talk to him, let alone have anything to do with any of his vague plans. He'd been acting on instinct, drawing on the one resource he'd been so reluctant to draw on until now. He didn't care to count the years that separated them. In many ways, he'd come to assume that her silence was more meaningful than his. He had the files Talia had given him, and Barbara had herself as Oracle. They could have both made contact at any time. But Barbara didn't know he knew. If she never contacted him, it must be deliberate.

Then again, one of the reasons he'd made his move in Gotham at the exact time he did was because of two people exiting the city: Cassandra Cain, and Barbara. Their collective absence was the only thing that had allowed him to run wild like he had — that and Bruce's unwillingness to believe the truth. What (if anything) she read into that, Jason couldn't know.

It is not right, it is not fair, for him to swing by after a long night out, to sit on her doorstep and drink coffee and think about how he kind of needs to shave. But she must know that he's like this already, even if she doesn't know he's in the city. There aren't cameras everywhere in Baedal like there were in Pseudo New York; there, she'd sent Cassandra to him so he could serve as a warning, as an example. An educational tool for the family member Barbara wanted to keep, he'd decided, and did not resent that. It had given him a chance to make his case to Cass, though in the end, it served Barbara's purposes.

He had been relatively incautious about tracking Stephanie, but he's been much more wary of surveying Barbara. There's only been a few glimpses here and there, always at a distance. He thinks he probably should have stopped at the apartment and shaved. It's a ridiculous thought. He's here because he's pretty sure she'll have finished this morning's tutoring session and may head home from there, so fuck shaving, at least he brought her some coffee. Hopefully she'll be back before it gets cold. Hopefully she'll actually talk to him. Hopefully she may even let him inside. Hope is stupid, like him; neither of them will stay down, and he can't tell whether this decision to approach her is stupidity, instinct, hope, or both.
