Who: Astrid Farnsworth and YOU! Come say hi to one of the new members of your cohort.
What: Astrid's finally ventured out of her room at the Valhalla and is getting coffee.
Where: Queequeg's
When: Sukkardi, around mid-day
Notes: ...Astrid is awkward?
Warnings: None yet.

It took a couple of days for Astrid to feel comfortable venturing out after Olivia let her out of the room she arrived in. It was a precaution, mostly - if she could try to come to terms with everything being different before she went out, she could probably avoid having a meltdown in public, and she very much wanted to avoid that.

Olivia had mentioned a place that served coffee, and she was more than a little excited by the prospect of being able to drink coffee regularly. That's what drew her outside, eventually - a nice, simple task that would have something she enjoyed involved in it. And she made it without any mishaps.

So now she's sitting at a little table in the corner with a big mug of coffee with cream and sugar and a plate with some sort of danish-like pastry on it, slowly and methodically chipping away at both.

Who: Irene Adler and Charles Xavier
What: Two cheats play a guessing game.
Where: Queequeg's, Mog Hill.
When: Misdi evening.
Warnings: TBA. Irene's existence, maybe?

Irene Adler loves to play games. It's a fact of her existence. Without games, things get boring and people get lax; she likes to keep herself sharp at all times.

Of course, that doesn't mean she can't cheat. Not that she views searching out information on the mystery man (not such a mystery anymore) she's promised to meet as cheating, because that would imply there are actually any rules. He seemed confident, anyway, which to Irene suggests that he knows something she doesn't. In a way, looking him up is only leveling the playing field.

His name is Charles Xavier and he has been known to wear a fetching (read: eyebrow-raising) Kevlar get-up. He spends a lot of time chatting to one particular friend, can give first aid advice and is apparently active in the xenian community- curious, because he looks human. (This isn't something she's ever had to take into account before, she has to admit). Perhaps it's to do with his job and his interests, or perhaps he's one of their number. Right now, it's impossible to tell. She knows that he's clever and wants to challenge her, and that she's taken a shine to him. It's enough.

She arrives at Queequeg's reasonably early, all in black- black pencil dress with capped sleeves, black coat that conceals all but an inch of the dress in question, spiky black heels, sheer black seamed stockings (it is cold outside), black leather gloves- she looks, as ever, predatory. Her make up is precise and dramatic and her hair is twisted into an elegant updo, and she's apparently checking her lipstick in a compact- while actually using it to search the faces for the one that she wants without anybody wondering what she's staring out. Without, in short, giving herself away.

It's packed enough to slow her down; she doesn't see him just yet. Still, that's fine. She's confident. Heaven knows what he's got up his sleeve- but it's not enough to beat the fact that she has, essentially, already tied him to his face. Already won, really.

In her opinion, at least.

Who: Kiden and YOU. This is an open log for any and everybody.
What: Teens with idle hands are the devil's playthings.
Where: All around Baedal
Warnings:Kiden's mouth.

For someone who is young both in body and mind, it shouldn't be this hard for Kiden to find something to do with herself these days. But with a lack of Laura by her side and her new found partner-in-crime Tommy probably causing mayhem without her, Kiden's left to stroll up and down the city blocks looking for trouble to get into. Let her tell it, trouble just follows her, but it doesn't help that she invites it closer to her with open arms.

She could get a job. Granted, she could use the pocket change, but really... last time she had a job she did it because she had rent to chip in for. Here in Baedal, she just freeloads off Remy and Wanda for the moment. They keep offering her food and a place to stay; she isn't ready to tell them no.

When: Veerdi (or any given) morning.
Warnings: None as of yet. Probably language?

Olivia would like to be one of those people waiting at the door when Queequeg's opens at 7, but in good conscience, she can't bring herself to add to the rush when she hasn't got any place to be in the mornings just yet. She waits a respectable hour before making her way from her room at Valhalla Inn to the sunken ship motif'd coffee shop.

It's become a bit of a game, ordering a coffee with the instruction surprise me. Sometimes this turns out to be a pleasant surprise, and those combinations she writes down for later reference. Sometimes she discovers that she should stick to what she knows. Today she's fortunately enjoying the results of flavour roulette, her hands wrapped around the hot beverage, a contented smile on her lips after a tentative sip. Out on deck, the warmth of it is appreciated.

It's Shundi afternoon, and Raven is out in the city. Along with her plans to meet Kate at the coffeeshop called Queequag's (it's always a good idea to scope a place out before you go and apply for a job there) and drop by the University to register for a couple of classes, she figures some window shopping is in order. Until she has a steady income there won't be any shopping bags going home with her, but a girl can look. Maybe try a few things on, check out what's available for decorating her room once Charles has a house picked out, things like that. Fun stuff, and a chance to get away from the Inn for a while.

[OOC: I'm going to set up some threads for encountering Raven at various locations, please wait to tag until I'm finished. Finished and open!]

Who: Ilde Decima and Isobel Saltzman. SPECIAL GUEST STAR: Cinderella.
What: Walk of shame, breakfast, HEY YOU WITH THE FACE. Texting Cindy.
Where: Queequeg's.
When: Sukkardi morning.
Notes: Two separate threads!
Warnings: Stay tuned, I'll edit if necessary.

A vampire's kitchen is not exactly ... well, it's useless, to put not too fine a point on it. Ilde drinks a glass of water while she finds all of her clothes, debating cafés - she can stop somewhere before she catches a train back to Raven's Gate, probably - then jumps in the shower, changes her bandage, and is already on her way out the door and thinking about texting Cindy when she gets Isobel's message, which slightly alters her plans. Queequeg's means a light breakfast, but it was already going to be light and they do have orange juice, in amongst the obscene number of coffee variants.

(Most of which are a little too much for her system, unfairly.)

She walks most of the way, catches the El briefly and texts Cindy while she's at it (Is it a walk of shame if I'm pleased with myself?), and she's up on the deck with orange juice and a sandwich by mid-morning.

This conversation is going to be interesting, she thinks; she's just not sure what kind, yet.

What: Coffee. Americano. Espresso. Cafe Latte. Need I go on?
Where: Queequeg's
When: during a slow hour
Notes:
Warnings: Once your character tastes Ianto's coffee, they will be ruined for all other coffee forever.

Ianto let out a breath. The morning rush was finally over, the manager was beaming, and the supply of ground coffee had dwindled as the mess behind the counter had grown. Day after day, the lines out the door had been getting progressively longer as word of Ianto's coffee spread, and Ianto was now fairly certain people were going well out of their way for it. He'd spotted some customers he was sure weren't even residents of Mog Hill. If he ever wanted to take over Baedal, he figured he could successfully pull a Starbucks.

While it was flattering almost to the point of embarrassment, it was also irritating since it dirtied up his kitchen (yes, his kitchen), and dealing with demanding customers wasn't his favorite way to spend a morning. Thankfully, his co-workers were taking out the trash and cleaning the counters, leaving Ianto free to grind more of his special blends in preparation for the next rush.

Who: Ilde Decima and Rodolphus Lestrange
What: Ilde wishes to bestow a priceless artifact upon Rodolphus.
Where: Queequeg's
When: TODAY, RIGHT NOW
Notes: if you don't like tentacles u a scrub
Warnings: ... tentacles, or rather, just one tentacle, a very small one (I presume)
While prior to his arrival in Baedal, such activities as 'going out for coffee/tea' or indeed anything other than 'running around hiding and killing people indiscriminately' had not played a large part in Rodolphus Lestrange's life. Even after he has for the most part become accustomed to life in this city, there are not many conventional leisure pursuits for someone like him. He reads a great deal, explores what he could, and lives frugally from job to job. His natural disconnect makes it difficult to find suitable employment, but he sees no reason to seek a more permanent vocation — yet. The city unsettles him, as does this world's propensity to neutralize his magical powers depending on where he was.

This, then, is a novelty, not only in activity, but the setting, as well as the other participant. He has been past and heard about Queequeg's but had never entered the premises before; the last time he 'socialized' with a significantly younger person or people was, in fact, the sea trip, and before that, the battle at Hogwarts. He remembers Ilde and Balthier best, but did not see fit to seek them out afterward.

... he doesn't expect anything sinister to happen, even with Ilde's ominous query regarding the fae.

Who: Ilde Decima & Castiel
What: Catching up for coffee.
Where: Queequeg's.
When: Misdi (Tuesday) afternoon.
Warnings: None as yet.

Ilde doesn't make a particular habit of being in Mog Hill - she lives on the other side of town, for one thing - but there are a few things there that she's fond of or that have caught her interest in her explorations, and so when she and Cas make arrangements to make good on the suggested coffee, she suggests Queequeg's. (If she lingers near the Mog Hill temple as she makes her way there...she's not going in, yet, she needs to talk to Sonja about it before she does anything stupid.)

She's got work lined up, but renovation delays mean they don't need her yet; most of her time, at the moment, is taken up in getting to better know the city, the riverways, and looking for part-time employment to tide her over. Maybe she'll offer music lessons, there's enough of a solid citizenry that someone's got to be interested - piano lessons for spoiled pre-teens in Gidd, who knows. It boils down to Mog Hill not actually being too far out of her way, not when 'wanderlust' is the way in which she most takes after her father and an inability to travel has her mapping Baedal out more thoroughly than strictly need be.

(She never thought she much cared about wandering, until she realized she'd just been taking it for granted.)

At Queequeg's about ten minutes early, she'll be sat out on the deck with a coffee when Cas arrives, her legs crossed at the ankle (wedge heels still don't much improve her height, when she spends as much of her time around people upwards of what she thinks of as 'unnecessarily tall'). Socializing is still a little surreal, and a part of her doesn't see the point in bothering (they're going to leave-), but it's nice to assure herself that she can. If she wants to, she can.

Who: Dorothy Gale, Cap'n Jack Harkness, a certain grumpybutt Coordinator of the CIA
What: Adventures with Creepy Monster Attacks!
Where: Near Queequeg's in Mog Hill
When: After the ~creatures~ begin popping up to creep on people.
Notes: Probably gonna be slow tags all 'round, so no stressing. :3
Warnings: Violence! Language! Angry Time Lords! Barking dogs! Spilled coffee!

Househunting is a new adventure for Dorothy. When you've lived in the same farmhouse for the largest portion of your life the way she has (and in a magical city full of sorceresses and talking animals the rest of the time), needing a new place to live never really enters into the situation. But when transplanted into a new place, it becomes a necessity.

So Dorothy's taken to wandering around various places in the city, looking for places for rent, trying to find somewhere in her price range that allows dogs and has plumbing that doesn't turn the water brown and smelly. It is more difficult than she had anticipated. Still, she's learned a lot about the city itself, like there's a pretty nice coffeehouse that makes quite frankly some of the best damn coffee she's ever had in her life, and that's saying something. And that there seems to be a biblical plague level of black birds swarming all over it.

Disturbing as that is, it doesn't seem to be a problem. There's a lot of them, sure, but all they do is stare! It's not like they're attacking! ...Yet! Even by Queequeg's, they gather in huge numbers, peering down from rooftops and gables, watching as she leaves sipping her coffee and unties Rex's leash from the bike rack outside. She can feel their eyes on her, and she'd shudder, if she didn't think they'd see that too. For some reason, she thinks it'd be a good idea if they didn't know how she feels about them.

But it's alright. She's got her dog, she's got her (frankly spectacular) coffee, and now she's back to looking for a place to call her own. What could possibly go wrong?

Who: Lucius Malfoy and Sebastian LeMat

What: Catching up and sorting out

Where: Queequeg's

When: Friday Veerdi, early afternoon

Notes: too many notes?

Warnings: none anticipated

Lucius has kept a low profile, for his first few days in Baedal. Most of his connections have been reconnections - people he met in Bête Noire, and Rodolphus. He tries not to think too deeply about Rodolphus, with only the ghost of a scar where his Mark should be, and only a flicker of the man whom Lucius had considered a friend left behind his gaze. That was before one of the two of them had gone to Azkaban. It was sobering in more than one way, and he hadn't sorted it out yet.

Of course, thinking about that was also better than thinking about how brief his reunion with Narcissa had been, and wondering if he should expect her to follow him here, too. He wanted her home, in truth. Wanting her with him was his own weakness. He felt less guilty, if more conflicted, about being glad of Sebastian's company.

He arrives when and where they'd agreed, promptly. He's split the difference in clothing, with what he was given for currency; he bought muggle clothes, but finer ones than he'd been using as a disguise, and has enchanted them to be as impeccably tailored as his robes had been. He would give at least some effort to trying to blend in, for the time being. He sees no reason not to resume the plan of appearing to be a model citizen as he attempts to orient himself.

He can break rules, if necessary, once he understands them.
