Who: Curious first gen youth, temple personnel, sundry
What: A visit to a temple, a ritual witnessed
Where: Eliandre's Temple in Griss Twist
When: Presumably in the afternoon
Notes: A temple scene was requested
Warnings: Risk of Zen philosophy, death may be referenced

The gods of Baedal, though often elusive, hold a great amount of power and influence - not least through the people who pay them tribute. It may be subtle but it's always there, or that's what people claim; prayers answered, favours granted, vengeance exacted. There are many public temples in the city and more, presumably, that are closed off to visitors. Temple folk are a common sight on the streets.

As her dominions bid, Eliandre is a god of many temples and great complexity. Justice is never simple and though it shouldn't be, death often is. Her home in Griss Twist is one of the larger temples in the city as it harbours the Hush, an old atrium garden. It's big enough to keep tall knotted trees and more humble specimens. There is even a pond for koi fish and some more unique creatures. Its caretakers are often older people, retired from a life spent in the presence of death. They never speak; talking is strictly prohibited inside of the Hush.

Outside is a different matter through it rarely gets loud. The décor is an exercise contrasts, black and bone white tile covers the floor. There are places to sit, some comfortable while others appear less so. Black offering bowls filled with white teeth stand on an altar by the wall, not really in focus. There is always a votary and some novices about to field and advise visitors or supplicants. There are ordinators too, figures that keep to the background dressed in solid black or solid white. They don't bother anyone who does not need to be bothered.

At the moment, the place has an energy to it, the feel of something happening. A small group of people look have gathered around a woman with xenian features. She's older, the fur on her pointed and notched ears going snowy. The group seems very amiable, a little eager perhaps for the woman's taste to be fawning over her but she bears it with grace. It's a procession of sorts, heading towards the Hush.

Where: Villa Roassieux.
When: Sukkardi.

Warnings: Discussion of fertility issues, references to trauma and abuse. Also, Sonja.
Ilde has a plan.

She's been quietly researching her options for some time now - it'll be expensive, but not out of her reach, and she's written it all out with elbow room, makes herself budget for worst case scenarios. She's good with money, actually, with figuring out how far she can make it go and thinking ahead with it; she'd always worried, when she was younger, and even if in her position it had largely been neurosis she'd still taught herself genuinely quite useful life skills.

She falls on her feet, this one. She hits the ground running just so long as she knows where she's running to, and therein lies the rub.

So she has a plan. She has a list of names (Dr Charles Xavier is at the top of it, and she's not entirely sure about that but Erik trusts him, but Remy doesn't trust Erik, which means she shouldn't entirely rely on his judgement, but his friend seems all right and comes highly recommended--), and everything she already knows she needs to do, some of which is going to be easier than the rest. No more alcohol for a while will be easier than no more cigarettes; quitting smoking will probably be easier than dealing with the medical profession, which is more to underscore how much she doesn't want to do that than how easy it's going to be to stop smoking again.

(She doesn't think of the first time as quitting because it wasn't.)

Ivan doesn't want to be involved. That's fine. She didn't expect him to, although the fact he doesn't intend to leave her (and the more immediately salient point that she doesn't intend to let him) means he's there on her list because steps will have to be taken, there's not going to be any fucking accidental baby-eating. Sonja can probably help with that; Sonja, also, is by necessity and by the nature of their relationship (which Ilde serenely refrains from actually defining, it just is), probably going to be significantly more involved. They live together, this is their home, this is not just Ilde's life that she's about to profoundly alter, so the first thing she does before she does anything more than think it to death has to be to talk to Sonja. There are certain things that she can't decide by herself and there's something that makes her feel terribly safe about knowing that. About it being not just her life, and not just her concern.

“Do you have, um, a minute?”

...to deal with Ilde and her endless array of lists, spread out over the kitchen table. Yes. (If she's accounted for everything, then there's no reason for anyone to tell her no, that she shouldn't--)

Who: Anna Demirovna and Ilde Decima
What: Grieving, faerie bonding, distractions and catching up.
Where: Sobek Croix (cemetery, then moonpools)
When: Veerdi night, after Boromir's funeral.
Notes: Funeral wear. ...yes. Also, title text.
Warnings: References to death; nudity.
After the funeral service, Ilde lingers to see him put in the ground; it's surreal, after having met Brian, and it makes an already uncomfortable experience a more bewildering one, leaving her unsure precisely how she's meant to feel. Does she grieve for someone who's gone if he isn't, really? --but he is, because Brian is different, even if he's the same, which makes sense and doesn't, actually, the whole thing is just...

(She wonders, but not for very long, what it was like to see her alive after experiencing her death in New York; it isn't a question she intends to ask anybody.)

When the earth is being patted back down into place, Boromir's marble headstone above it still a crisp new white, and the last stragglers are mostly gone or going - she moves away, finally, hat tipped down and hands hidden in her sleeves. She isn't entirely sure where it is she's actually going, but wherever it is, she's not going there in a particular hurry. There are probably people she should talk to (would it be prudent to warn someone-- she could always say something to Mycroft-- no, it's probably better not to wade into that herself), but it feels like a vague concern when she's so expertly distancing herself from the thing. It doesn't make sense and it's uncomfortable and so it's...somewhere else, and she's going for a walk (in the dark, in the woods, which is probably not as bad as it sounds when they're Sobek Croix's woods), and anyway--

Fuck it.

It had been several days since Erik had woken up, which meant that, finally, Charles had allowed himself to rest --at least to the best of his ability. The previous weeks still haunted him in terrible ways, but everyone was dealing with something, and so he tucked it away along with every other concern or feeling he didn't want to announce. Life goes on.

And he had promised a friend dinner. So he chose somewhere with good food, a great wine list and an indulgent but quiet atmosphere in order to toast shaky victories in a way that required as little effort as possible.

He's standing in the lounge area, which once was and still serves as a library room part-time, examining the spines of old books as he waits for Irene to arrive.

As night falls on Baedal, the city is almost quiet. The streets have a few last minute workers returning home, but by now, most citizens have already gone by the temples and picked up their vurt, ready to lay down and dream.

After placing a not-feather in one's mouth, there's a moment where it fizzes against the tongue before sliding coolly down the back of the throat and pulling the user down into sleep. A series of impressions, more sensation than anything concrete, appears before the user and this is how one chooses which Dreamer to enter.

It is a reasonable time to switch living spaces, what with various areas of the city having been trashed, and in any case, he is not particularly happy to stay in one apartment for too long. Even if he weren't doing this whole thing, he would have left by this time. The deed to the previous place is still in his name, but now someone else is paying him rent, which finds its way to the oblivious landlord.

There's no real motivation for choosing a nicer place this time other than the fact he has a bit more money to do so. Helena, Babs, and Steph get the new address. That's approximately three more people than he's used to, but it's not wholly unpleasant.

Like last time, the apartment almost completely lacks any personal touch, unless you count the weapons.
