It's like paradise, spread out with a butter knife :: [OPEN]

Who: EVERYONE
What: Réjean has decided that more people ought to celebrate and help raise a bit of dosh for one of his favourite bars. See: flyer.
Where: The Apache.
When: Misdi night and into the wee hours of the morning.
Warnings: Discussion of Pickman's manky feet.

The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap. Tonight, the bar is packed with people from all across the city, different cantons and cohorts, all out to celebrate surviving the fungal plague. Patrons are encouraged to buy tickets for a door prize with the proceeds going to repair the damage tunnelling ants made to the cellar.

no problem :3

It's a slight mindfuck for him because he just met Ilde, and here is someone who looks incredibly similar. It's a good thing he has other senses to make up for where his sight fails him. It may be crowded in the bar but Isobel is close enough that he can smell the difference. How very, very different.

There is a scattering of vampires in most of the Nordic countries (the cities aren't too big, after all, and the people more spread out) but Copenhagen has a sizeable undead community. He prefers to judge people on a case by case basis than write off a group and he regards Isobel carefully, not showing any change in body language other than being very calm and still.

"Seems so." Then after a pause, "I hear there's cause for celebration."

Isobel's presence is a mindblow to just about everyone and she's starting to take pleasure in it. If she could get away with impersonating the other woman, she might be tempted to try it. But as it is, she's not Katherine and Ilde isn't Elena. There's no point in even thinking about it.

"So I've heard," she answers lightly, taking a sip of her drink. "Some invasion that I wasn't here to see."

"You're new?" By now he's figured that people don't exactly leave whenever they want to, but you never know. At least they share one thing in common, and he concedes to this fact with a casual little shrug and responding, "I was brought here today."

Isobel nods once in return, offering a slight smile in return. "I've only managed a few days here, myself. They seem to bring us in groups."

And she vaguely wonders why, pushing that question to the back of her list of things she'd really like to know.

"What brings someone like you to a party like this?"

She's mostly just trying to get to know the populace, see what everyone's like and how much value they'll have to her.

"I don't know what you do on your first day of being kidnapped to a magical city, but mine includes at least one beer." Not that it had been too trying beyond the initial shock and general existence of such a place. Once that was over, the day had segued into shopping, hanging out with a fun (and pretty) young witch and getting to know the local area.

"Fair enough," Isobel answers with a smile. "If my first day had coincided with a party, I would have agreed to the same. But... having a few drinks to celebrate less than a week seems fair to me. Makes it easier to deal with, don't you think?"

Since life was starting to suck in general for Isobel, both here and in Mystic Falls. At least here didn't involve being compelled into tricking her only real friend. That was one plus the city had going for it.

"Just a bit," he says, sipping from his own drink (which has arrived by now). "Still, this place has some upsides."

He was an independent soul and liked his own company a little too much (both a bear and a human thing, not that either were separate, but intrinsic to one another) but it was good to see supernatural folk out in the open, in big numbers. Even vampires.

"Such as? I fail to see many of them right now."

The only real one right now being the distinct absence of Klaus. Anything else right now is just bugging her, especially the lack of anyone she can compel into being a minion. Granted, she's only tried it once, but... she's not really keen on a second time in a place like this just in case it won't work.

"It's...a relief not to have to worry about being completely myself." A tacit acknowledgement of what Isobel had perhaps already guessed, that there was more to him than meets the eye. "I'm an open minded person and I like my company that way, when I can or when I want it. I realise it's not the same for everyone, but..."

He gives a little shrug, not bothering to finish the sentence.

"That sort of thinking will get you far," Isobel answers with an easy smile. If there's more to him, she can't tell what it is, just that he's a little different. For all she knows, he could be a werewolf or a fae like Ilde. Being a vampire doesn't automatically mean she can tell all of this.

"Not everyone feels the same."

She's leaving it open-ended for him to ask about her, should he feel like it. Whether or not she'll answer - and honestly - is another matter entirely.
