Who: Patrick and Hawa
What: A second meeting
Where: Outside, not far from the Valhalla Inn
When: Today, earlier.

Patrick was starting to settle into this place. He'd hunkered down at the inn while he looked about for something to generate income for him while he was stuck here. By parts he'd explored -- certainly not everywhere, but he was beginning to get the lay of the land. His morning jogs brought him down streets that were becoming familiar. Routine.

And that was a problem.

He had things waiting for him back home; he couldn't afford to just settle in here comfortably. But he consoled himself with the fact that he would at least learn for his trouble while he was here. With magic an out-in-the-open concept, it was an opportunity he may not get again.

So it was high time he tried to get in contact with Hawa again, and take him up on his offer. Beyond that, he'd rather enjoyed the fey's company that day and well, seeing him again sounded good in general. Not that he was admitting that. Oh no.

It was early afternoon when he found himself wandering outside, eager to get out of the room. It took him a bit to work the CiD so that he wouldn't be shouting out to the entire cohort.

A couple tries. Technology wasn't his strong suit. He was better at old things, books, pencil and paper, magic, toasters. When he got it though, he lifted it up closer to his mouth to speak. "So Hawa? Are you around? I think I owe you a drink, and I'd love to pick your brain. So--" Pausing, Patrick frowned. Was this thing echoing. No? Huh. "So I..." No, definitely an echo. He paused and looked around. Coming from nearby. And... up?

"So I was thinking maybe we could meet up." That was his voice, all right. From up in the tree.

Patrick was paying attention, both his gaze and that odd and inexplicable unnameable sense fixed on his hand atop Hawa's fist. His eyes widened and he nodded to himself. Impressive. He could imagine that coming in handy in a fight.

...and he wondered if that was something he could learn, given enough time. But for now he flashed a grin up at the other man. "Remind me never to piss you off. I get the feeling I'd get my ass handed to me."

Hawa laughed but made no attempts to deny that he could, indeed, kick Patrick's ass. "Then don't piss me off." He playfully knocked his knuckles against Patrick's cheek--just a light graze. "I think you might have a hard time with that, though."

A pause and then he remarked, as casual as you please, "You seem like too nice of a kid, after all."

Patrick laughed at the rather plain answer. Well, good to know Hawa was the confident type. He turned his head just slightly at that mock blow. The next words though, those had his eyebrows lifting just a bit. "Hey now, I'm no kid." He's totally a kid, shh. "Too nice though?"

"You aren't? Coulda fooled me," Hawa remarked in an offhand fashion, burying both hands into the pockets of his long coat. He grinned, cocking his head slightly to one side. "Yeah. What, no-one's told you that before?"

Hawa really considered someone who actively sought him out for one reason or another too nice. At least he was aware of his own, hrm, shortcomings. He had to be aware of them now, given his tumultuous relationship with his brother, and how said brother had avoided getting near to him if he could very well help it. In fact putting as much distance between them as conceivably possible.

"I'm not. And saying things like that makes you sound like an old man, Old Man." Patrick flashed a grin in his direction before his expression turned sheepish. "Not really. But I don't really run in very social circles." Thwarting demons did not lead him to meeting many quality people. Hawa struck him as quality so far. Interesting, knowledgeable. All pretty positive things.

"Old man? Do I look like an old man to you?" Hawa growled it a bit, mock anger. Actually, he hoped he wouldn't look like an old man. He still had a good several hundred years before he thought he'd get any white hairs.

His expression softened into one that was more thoughtful, however. Remembering what the kid had told him. "You're young, you should be spending your days having fun and partying, yeah?"

Patrick took a moment to rather pointedly look him over after that question. One hand lifted, tapping at his chin as he pursed his lips thoughtfully and generally made quite the production of pondering that question. There was a grin threatening his lips though, and he couldn't quite keep it entirely at bay. "Wellllll.... nah. I'd pick a few different adjectives to describe you before I ever came up to old."

Those next words though, they tempered the smile on his face. "I'm not the partying type. And well, I don't have much time. Between studying and then my brother and the demons... I'm not really the funnest guy to be around."

Hawa gave him a rather flat look at the continued thoughtful expression. Flat, but in all joking--maybe? He cocked his head slightly when Patrick spoke once more, snorting lightly. "Care to share?" he asked.

A scuff of the heel of his shoe against the floor and he sighed, lightly. "I don't know, so far you've been pretty fun. Though thankfully there's a lack of demons here," he allowed. All the same, his expression seemed to shadow as he thought of his own brother and the world he still needed to get back to.

Patrick just grinned at the expression and then further at the question. "Solid. Fit. Top of your game. Might even go so far as to say virile."

He paused just a moment at that before nodding. "Well, glad to hear I'm fun. I won't lie, I'd kind of like to have a friend around this place." He noticed the darkening of Hawa's face, the distance that his thoughts seemed to go to. Well, it would make sense, for him to have things waiting for him as well, didn't it?

Hawa snorted at virile, reaching out in order to muss the hair at the side of Patrick's head. "Yeah. That's way better than old."

His hand lingered where it was, giving Patrick a look. A friend, huh? Patrick wouldn't have trouble, he was a kid with a good-natured personality (so it seemed to Hawa). Plenty likeable. "I'm sure you won't have trouble with that," he said, though he didn't think to include himself. What was having friends?

Patrick couldn't help but laugh. It was sort of a ridiculous word outside cheesy romance novels -- not that Patrick would know first hand. He certainly never read any himself.

Nope.

He ducked just a bit from the hair ruffling. He paused though and laughed. "Well, I was sort of hoping to start with you."

Hawa paused at that.

The look he gave Patrick was surprised where it--oughtn't have been, right? But ah, this was Hawa, and Hawa wasn't used to the branch of friendship being extended to him by any means. So for a few moments he was robbed of a coherent reply.

Then, with a joking air, "Is that so? I'm fairly high-maintenance, you know."

Patrick laughed again at that, a little surprised. Were fairies not the friend-making type? Hmm. Nah. He was going to chalk this up to a Hawa thing. Not a fey thing.

"Ha! Are you? Well, that's all right too. I'm up for a challenge."

Certainly a Hawa thing. Though the fairy aspect had a hand in it as well--he wasn't inclined to trust easy. He did like Patrick, though. An eyebrow lifted and he snorted, amused.

But he was also a little pleased. How often did someone say they wanted to be friends and they weren't annoying as all hell? Nearly never, that's how often. "That so? Guess I should've guessed it of you, huh?" Something in his tone softened, a bit more seriousness coming into it. "Suppose it wouldn't be so bad." Having Patrick as a friend.

Patrick shook his head in amusement. Yup, should've guessed it Hawa. Patrick just wasn't the type to back down, especially when it involved people he'd decided he liked. And Hawa fell into that category. "Good! That decides that then. And I promise, it won't be so bad. I'm a pretty decent friend."

Hawa exhaled a low chuckle, shaking his head in faint amusement. "I'm hoping it won't be completely terrible, at least," he muttered, half to himself and half at Patrick. But he was teasing, once more. Even so... Friends, huh? He fixed a long look on the younger man.

Patrick grinned just a bit reaching over to shove at Hawa's shoulder lightly. "Well, don't set the bar too high, yeah." He smirked a bit. Yeah, Hawa was a good choice. He had a good sense of humor. Patrick could work with that.

"So you saying I should keep my expectations low, Patrick?" Hawa teased, reaching out to ruffle at his hair once more. He had found himself a weak point, and seemed rather intent on exploiting it.

"I do hate to disappoint," Patrick answered with a smirk. Of course, the smirk faded in favor of making a face at Hawa as he tried to duck that hair ruffling. His style. It was crucial it be protected.

"By the way, you should give up on any semblance of hair neatness around me," Hawa quipped, laughing when Patrick ducked away. He watched the younger man with amusement, tempted to go after him to ruffle up that hair all the more thoroughly but just holding back. For now.

"It's not a matter of neatness. It's a matter of fashion!" Patrick informed him, trying to look as grumpy as he could possibly managed. He wrinkled his nose in Hawa's general direction before laughing. "It's not nice to assault my sense of style. Like I said, looking this good takes effort."

Hawa rolled his eyes up toward the ceiling, snorting quietly. "Are all humans this picky about how they look?" Hawa doesn't even try! Well, it works out pretty well for him but that's not the point okay.

"Only us really good looking ones." Patrick informed him as seriously as he could. Once the words were out, he couldn't manage holding back laughter at the ridiculousness of that statement.

"If you're so good looking, why're you worrying about appearances?" he teased and tilted his chin up, looking down somewhat at Patrick with an entertained air. His eyes roamed over Patrick, quite plainly appraising. "You should be fine even without fussing, yeah?"

Patrick blushed despite himself at the once over. "Hey. Just because I work for it doesn't mean it's not there. I may not be a natural, but..." Yeah, he couldn't help another laugh. "Aaah, I know it's pretty sad. Back when we were in high school my brother used to give me a hard time about my hair too, said I liked hair gel more than most girls."
