Costume Party in Honor of Lex Luthor's Birthday [OPEN]

As stated on the invitation, Adrian is throwing a costume party to celebrate Lex's twenty-fifth birthday at the Luthor-Veidt Building in Brock Marsh. Everyone is welcome, whether they know Lex or not. There's plenty of food and free alcohol (mostly wine, fancy beer, and champagne), music and a space for dancing, and room to mingle and make new friends. Some simple and classy decorations, purple of course, have been put up on the first and second floors to create a festive atmosphere.

(A note to those who might try to take the opportunity to go snooping: security is insanely tight. The elevators will not go beyond the first and second floors without a special code, and there's an elevator operator who is very obviously there to make sure you don't try anything funny. The stairwells are likewise under guard and the private areas of the first floor are locked and under camera surveillance.)

[ooc: Please wait until a few threads are set up before tagging! Party time! Everyone is welcome!

Note: I've turned off notifs so if you need my attention in a specific spot, please PM or plurk me.]

"He'd declare the whole damn thing illogical and spend the rest of the time wrapped in a shell of denial," McCoy stated. His own lips twitched up slightly. "Not a bad place for him."

"I thought you might enjoy that thought. Finally--"

That last is addressed to the bartender (though he does it with the same charming smile he used when working the rest of the room, so the lady serving them smiles indulgently rather than rolling her eyes). He makes a little bit of small talk and then puts in their drink order.

"Hopefully he'll get us back home soon. We'll have to make do with just telling him about the place but somehow that's just fine by me."

"Yeah, the less people here from back home, the better, by me." He glances over at Jim for a moment. "You seen Hellsing's new chef - Maggie, I think her name is? Fuck if it doesn't throw me off every time I see her."

"Maggie? No, why-- wait, wait, wait wait. Does she look like Uhura?" Jim asked. "If so, yeah. But not at Hellsing, I didn't know she was there. She called from the arrival room. Video call. I thought she was Uhura and I answered right away. We didn't talk long, she, um."

He frowned, bewildered that he could have this effect on a woman he'd barely met. "She seemed to have her mind made up already that I wasn't a man of my word. I don't know. Seemed like she was mad at me. I don't know what I did, so I politely excused myself from the conversation before I made it worse."

McCoy smothered a smile. Seemed that tendency to mistrust Jim went with the face. "Huh. We didn't talk long, either, but I think she's the cook at Hellsing now. It's weird to see her every time I go down to get lunch."
