Costume Party in Honor of Lex Luthor's Birthday [OPEN]

As stated on the invitation, Adrian is throwing a costume party to celebrate Lex's twenty-fifth birthday at the Luthor-Veidt Building in Brock Marsh. Everyone is welcome, whether they know Lex or not. There's plenty of food and free alcohol (mostly wine, fancy beer, and champagne), music and a space for dancing, and room to mingle and make new friends. Some simple and classy decorations, purple of course, have been put up on the first and second floors to create a festive atmosphere.

(A note to those who might try to take the opportunity to go snooping: security is insanely tight. The elevators will not go beyond the first and second floors without a special code, and there's an elevator operator who is very obviously there to make sure you don't try anything funny. The stairwells are likewise under guard and the private areas of the first floor are locked and under camera surveillance.)

[ooc: Please wait until a few threads are set up before tagging! Party time! Everyone is welcome!

Note: I've turned off notifs so if you need my attention in a specific spot, please PM or plurk me.]

"Even half's a good start."

She thinks a moment, taking stock of who she has and hasn't seen at the party tonight. "I came with Jack Benjamin," she says, closing her eyes to help with her recall. "The guy from the political party. Alan Shore, the attorney, is here somewhere, too. He's wearing a nice suit and vines, you seriously can't miss the guy. Professor Charles Xavier is... I'm not sure, someone out of a fairy tale." She opens her eyes and holds her hand up at the level of the top of her head. "He's about my height, thirties, brown hair and blue eyes."

Her gaze drifts slightly; wasn't there someone else? "Oh! And Doctor Leonard McCoy. I think it was him, anyway, I only saw him as he was heading upstairs. Nice suit, simple mask," she points at Raylan, "your height and build, kinda, brown hair. He may or may not be hanging out with a guy dressed like the back end of a horse like you see in Christmas plays. Except you usually see the whole horse. Anyway."

She presses her lips into a thin line and then she shrugs. "There's probably other people here I wanted you to meet but either I haven't seen them yet or I didn't realize who they were because of their costumes. If Solomon Koenig or Martel show up I'll try to find you."

Raylan grins at her. "All these guys are gonna be ruggedly good looking, aren't they? I didn't no better, I'd think you were keeping all of us around for decoration." There are some details he's tucked away to ask about, but those can wait.

Rachel blinks up at him a few times, the color visibly rising across her cheeks. She opens her mouth to speak, stops, chews her lip a moment, and then she sighs, shaking her head (though there's a tiny smile turning her lips).

"I'd say I hadn't noticed you're all attractive," and she uses you're and not they're on purpose, because it's true, "but that'd be a damn lie. What can I say? I guess either the city favors attractive men or the gods decided I should have help that's easy on the eyes."

Haha, homophone typos are the best. U_U

"Well, guess I can't fault you for it. Wouldn't be gentlemanly. At least I know to brace my ego." He doesn't, in fairness, seem terribly concerned about it.

And kidding aside, it wouldn't hurt to know a doctor, a lawyer, and whatever Charles Xavier was.

I knew what you meant : D

"See, I knew there was a reason I liked you so much." She's still smiling, good-natured. "Good manners and all."

"I've been told I have a charming personality. Not, granted, by anyone I've ever worked for. But even so."
