Costume Party in Honor of Lex Luthor's Birthday [OPEN]

As stated on the invitation, Adrian is throwing a costume party to celebrate Lex's twenty-fifth birthday at the Luthor-Veidt Building in Brock Marsh. Everyone is welcome, whether they know Lex or not. There's plenty of food and free alcohol (mostly wine, fancy beer, and champagne), music and a space for dancing, and room to mingle and make new friends. Some simple and classy decorations, purple of course, have been put up on the first and second floors to create a festive atmosphere.

(A note to those who might try to take the opportunity to go snooping: security is insanely tight. The elevators will not go beyond the first and second floors without a special code, and there's an elevator operator who is very obviously there to make sure you don't try anything funny. The stairwells are likewise under guard and the private areas of the first floor are locked and under camera surveillance.)

Aimery, in turn, was overly pleased by Adrian's approval both of his costume and efforts with the party; it wasn't Adrian Aimery was specifically trying to make amends to, but brownie points were brownie points.

"I'm glad it's to your liking," he grinned a moment, then his tone shifted, smile softening into one not almost bashful. "And, well, it's a very busy party with quite a few people here- there'll be time for socialization later, when things settle down. I was actually up here to tidying, I thought I would check in with you before I headed back downstairs."

Yes, even though Adrian had just implicitly told him to slack off a bit, Aimery still felt the need to explain why he was away from his station.

Never hurts to have half of the partnership on your side when the other half is questioning your intentions.

And Adrian appreciates that Aimery is taking his job so seriously, even though he does have permission to get away and enjoy himself. "Just see that you make some time at some point. It's unlikely we'll have people arriving too late, so there's no reason for you to feel bound to the door all night." He could offer to step in take care of greeting arrivals for a while, of course, except that would require Adrian to feel more than a passing interest in the affairs of his employees. Or really, anyone at all who isn't himself. "How are things going, in your eyes?"

"Yes sir." That was Aimery's plan, in fact, even if he had to take a break from his 'enjoying' to work, he could manage the two. It'd be best if he didn't go overboard with it though, it wouldn't do to need to escort someone out while sloshed himself. "Quite well, actually. Very busy, as I said, but no real incidents. A spill here and there, a little nosiness, and I've had to remove the occasional smoker. Still, I'd say the party is a rousing success. Oh! And a uh, Mr. Fish brought a collection of music as well, I've turned it over to the DJ."

Adrian trusts Aimery to know his own limits, and to always keep his duties in mind, even while he's enjoying himself. So he's not at all worried that his instructions to take time away will result in anything regrettable.

He makes a face at the mention of smokers, but mentally notes that he should mention to Lex that Aimery has been diligent about that. "Our security should be up to thwarting any especially nosy guests, but perhaps I'll take a look around myself, just to check on things. And I appreciate you delivering the music to the DJ, I'll have to find Mr. Fish and thank him for that."
