Costume Party in Honor of Lex Luthor's Birthday [OPEN]
As stated on the invitation, Adrian is throwing a costume party to celebrate Lex's twenty-fifth birthday at the Luthor-Veidt Building in Brock Marsh. Everyone is welcome, whether they know Lex or not. There's plenty of food and free alcohol (mostly wine, fancy beer, and champagne), music and a space for dancing, and room to mingle and make new friends. Some simple and classy decorations, purple of course, have been put up on the first and second floors to create a festive atmosphere.
(A note to those who might try to take the opportunity to go snooping: security is insanely tight. The elevators will not go beyond the first and second floors without a special code, and there's an elevator operator who is very obviously there to make sure you don't try anything funny. The stairwells are likewise under guard and the private areas of the first floor are locked and under camera surveillance.)
[ooc:Please wait until a few threads are set up before tagging! Party time! Everyone is welcome!
Note: I've turned off notifs so if you need my attention in a specific spot, please PM or plurk me.]

Lex sets down his drink and begins peeling away the outer wrapper of the cupcake. He didn't mind eating on his own, it was his birthday, he could do as he pleased anyway. "Is this one of the cupcakes from the bakery?" He knew very little of how much planning had gone into the party.
no subject
He shrugged then looked on with curious anticipation, waiting to see what Lex thought of the cupcake. It wasn't a cupcake really, not exactly, more like a sweet, soft, cupcake-shaped cookie, lilac in color (because it was his first time using food coloring and he didn't want to overdo it) and flavored with a hint of rosewater and nutmeg. The thin icing was little more than thickened honey and more rosewater, hence why he loved it so. Aimery held up a hand, "If you don't like it, that's fine, I can fetch you another kind."

If the rate at which Lex ate the cake wasn't indication enough, the reach for Aimery's shoulder is and Lex gives it a friendly squeeze. "I hope you set some of those aside in the kitchen that I can have later, that was very good." A smile. "I especially appreciate the color."
no subject
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. There's a few more set out with the rest of the cakes, but I can always make more later- it's a very simple recipe and needn't be a birthday-only treat." There was a wavering in his confidence at mention of the color: "I'd intended the purple to be bolder, I'll add a bit more color next time."
no subject
He's not going to bring up the subject of Lionel, not here. "You've done a fantastic job planning this party, Aimery, you should know that. I hope you've been able to enjoy your handiwork."
no subject
"To be fair just as much is Adrian's handwork, but I'll accept credit for making it 'fantastic' if you like," he flashed a cheeky grin, then softened his smile and shook his head, "As for me, well, I'm enjoying it now. Most who are coming have already arrived, so I've time to have a drink with a friend in celebration of his birthday."
He held up his glass, tilting it towards Lex in a belated toast.

The shift toward casualness doesn't go unnoticed and Lex's voice is back to being as dry as ever. "You and Mr. Veidt are on a first name basis now I see."
no subject
"Not really, that's a slip of the tongue while off duty and..." he tipped his glass again to signify that he'd been drinking, if somehow that wasn't abundantly clear. Surely a man was allowed to accidentally refer to his employer by his given name under such circumstances. After all, he called Lex Lex from time to time... though that was markedly different. He shrugged, hoping to play it off as no matter, "Did you know he helped me with my costume? It's thanks to him I now know the name of the fellow I'm dressed as."
no subject
Lex has known of Adrian's dual identity for quite a while now but he'll play along, especially since he's been entrusted to keep this secret. "Oh really?" Faked but rather genuine sounding mild surprise goes here. "I've been wondering about Baedal's own masked hero. What's he called?"
no subject
"Ozymandias. Apparently Mr. Veidt," see how he did that, Lex, "heard some rumor about him and passed it along. The name sounds Saracen, I know, but he didn't seem Saracen when I met him. I think he had hair lighter than mine," Aimery gestured vaguely toward his head for emphasis, "so it's likely a coincidence."
