It's like paradise, spread out with a butter knife :: [OPEN]

Who: EVERYONE
What: Réjean has decided that more people ought to celebrate and help raise a bit of dosh for one of his favourite bars. See: flyer.
Where: The Apache.
When: Misdi night and into the wee hours of the morning.
Warnings: Discussion of Pickman's manky feet.

The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap. Tonight, the bar is packed with people from all across the city, different cantons and cohorts, all out to celebrate surviving the fungal plague. Patrons are encouraged to buy tickets for a door prize with the proceeds going to repair the damage tunnelling ants made to the cellar.

Alan smiles in return. He's not drunk per se, but the scotch has begun to take effect, soothing certain aches, prodding him, every so often, into startling displays of sincerity. "I'd be honored. As would the chair, I've no doubt."

Rachel smiles, her gaze dropping for a moment. "Thank you. That's kind of you."

She settles into the chair, curling her hands around her drink on the table. "How've you been, since our quest?" She looks over at him, faintly appraising, not an open checking-for-wounds or anything. "Well, I hope?"

Well. The look may be mild, but those two questions are about as subtle as whipping out a tongue depressor and a penlight.

"I'm sitting upright," he offers, a trace of reproach in his smile. It'll be--at the very least--another glass or two before he's able to endure being clucked over by a woman half his age without suffering a twinge of embarrassment. "And how's our fair city been treating you?"

She may not know how not to fuss, but she does know how not to press something that bothers someone. "Fair enough," she replies with a smile, dropping the matter.

"And the city's been treating me all right, I guess. Things are back to what passes for normal around here. All in all I can't complain."
