It's like paradise, spread out with a butter knife :: [OPEN]

Who: EVERYONE
What: Réjean has decided that more people ought to celebrate and help raise a bit of dosh for one of his favourite bars. See: flyer.
Where: The Apache.
When: Misdi night and into the wee hours of the morning.
Warnings: Discussion of Pickman's manky feet.

The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap. Tonight, the bar is packed with people from all across the city, different cantons and cohorts, all out to celebrate surviving the fungal plague. Patrons are encouraged to buy tickets for a door prize with the proceeds going to repair the damage tunnelling ants made to the cellar.

After he's been at the party for a little while, having a grand evening mostly hanging around Aimery or merrily chatting with strangers, Eddie spots Rachel. Of course, he is happy to go say hello.

"Rachel! Cheers!" He is a little buzzed, at this point, but doing his darnedest to hide it. It's not like he isn't full of smiles when he's sober, anyway.

It's funny how similar things can be; she, too, is a bit buzzed but also not that different when she's sober, so who would know?

"Eddie! Hi!" And there's a bright smile. "It's good to see you! Are you having a good time?"

[identity profile] edsidlemirth.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"I am!" Eddie crosses the rest of the distance to stand nearby, and lifts his bottle in greeting. He did say cheers, after all. "Are you? I bet you are." She's happy and has a lot of friends. That makes it a pretty safe bet, as far as he's concerned.

"The cohort should do more together, really. Getting a feel for the group dynamic is a great excuse to dress up and spend an evening out."

"I am!" She is, too, grinning, happy, more at ease than she's been for a while (and no, it's not just the alcohol).

"And I agree. We need more things we enjoy doing instead of just the things we have to do, like working and stuff, and are forced to do, like dealing with giant ants and other things like that. Also we need to just meet each other more. There are so many faces here I don't recognize."

"Oh yeah, definitely. We can talk about that more, when we meet up, later." Eddie says this with a casual shrug. He doesn't want to talk about cohort things too much in a party crowd.

"Have you met Aimery yet, though? He's only just arrived to our cohort. I know, yet another one."

"Of course. Later this week? I'm free most evenings, and I did tell you we'd talk."

She pauses a moment, thinking. "Aimery... yes! Yes, I did, earlier. He seems very nice. Do you know him?"

[identity profile] edsidlemirth.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Not exactly. He tells me that he vaguely remembers knowing me from a place I've never actually been, and he seems familiar to me, but I don't know him at all. So, that's new. Anyway, let me know if you find out he has any psychic abilities that might account for that, yeah? Otherwise, I'm going along with it. He's great. And, yes! I know we'll meet up. I'm not worried."
gotbottle: (but...)

[personal profile] gotbottle 2011-08-18 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"He does?" Rachel frowns. "Wait, wait... that's not the first case of that happening, that I've heard of. People have arrived from another city like this one, they say. A bunch of them know each other. Oh my god--do you think there was, like, another you there? How does that feel?"

[identity profile] edsidlemirth.livejournal.com 2011-08-18 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"That's pretty cool, actually. Maybe other me will find a way to get here, and me and other-me can combine forces. We would be unstoppable." Until they decided to compete, which would be entirely more likely to happen. Eddie is amused by that idea, too.
gotbottle: (amused)

[personal profile] gotbottle 2011-08-18 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
"That would be awesome. Think of all the things you could accomplish!"

And then she gets a bit thoughtful. "If there was another me, I hope she didn't do anything dumb. That'd be totally embarrassing."

[identity profile] edsidlemirth.livejournal.com 2011-08-18 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, that would be a very unfortunate other-self. I suppose, all things being possible, that if you meet yourself often enough, eventually you'll meet the dumb one. Even more unfortunately, as far as a collective of me would be concerned, the dumb one would be... so screwed."
gotbottle: (legs)

[personal profile] gotbottle 2011-08-19 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Well," Rachel announces, "I'm just gonna operate on the assumption that if there are infinite mes out there, I am the smart, capable one. So there."

She smiles, sipping from her drink. "Tell me a story. Tell me if you've met anyone interesting here tonight."

[identity profile] edsidlemirth.livejournal.com 2011-08-19 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's a good starting point, I say. Until you have a larger sample size, and then you can have fun sorting it out..." He laughs. That would be way too much fun, anyway, because of course, with multiple hims he couldn't possibly be the stupid one.

"Ohhh, a story. Well I've been talking to a few people tonight, but the strangeness with Aimery likely is the best story that's mine to tell, from tonight. I'm not going to steal the other guy's story. I suppose it all depends on what kind of story you'd like to hear."
gotbottle: (expectant grin)

[personal profile] gotbottle 2011-08-20 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Rachel hums, thoughtful. "I guess I can't have you stealing someone else's story, no. Well. The night is still young--we could see if any good stories come our way while we celebrate."
