It's like paradise, spread out with a butter knife :: [OPEN]

Who: EVERYONE
What: Réjean has decided that more people ought to celebrate and help raise a bit of dosh for one of his favourite bars. See: flyer.
Where: The Apache.
When: Misdi night and into the wee hours of the morning.
Warnings: Discussion of Pickman's manky feet.

The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap. Tonight, the bar is packed with people from all across the city, different cantons and cohorts, all out to celebrate surviving the fungal plague. Patrons are encouraged to buy tickets for a door prize with the proceeds going to repair the damage tunnelling ants made to the cellar.

Sonja likes pool hustling--she likes anything where she can stack the odds in her own favor, generally--so she's leaning against one of the tables, watching a game conclude. She seems dubious of one of the fellow party-goers' abilities, but is distracted by Lex's arrival.

"You playing?"

Some people say 'hi'; normal greetings are for suckers.

Lex shares Sonja's sentiments about greeting and sets down his drink in favor of a pool cue and beginning to chalk it. "I am if you are."

Normal invitations are for suckers as well.

"Are we playing each other, or are we picking a vic?" After all, there are innocent victims in the bar they could team up against. ...harmlessly, of course. It's all in good fun, or so says her lazy little smile.

"As much as I'd like to take you on," he says, returning her smile with his own expression that indicates this is probably not the last time they'll be shooting pool together. "I think it might be fun to make a few friends."

He quickly manages to find another team of two that is eager to compete. When they are ready to break he motions toward the triangle. "Do you want to do the honors?"

"I do like to socialize."

Once they're situated with their new friends, she inclines her head toward Lex. Probably it isn't necessary to lean forward quite the way she does, but she's not above using some of her wiles to disrupt the game of their opponents.

Also it's just fun. Succubus.

"Been a while since I've played pool," she comments, absently. "Seven, eight months."

Sonja's leans may be done for their opponents, but that doesn't stop Lex from looking as well. Her plan to distract their opponents works, and that coupled with their mutual skill of the game secures a victory.

"I've had a table put in my place if you'd want to shoot sometime. I mostly use it for my own practice, but I'm sure you can understand the value of a sparring partner." His tone is casual but there's a slight quirk of the eyebrow that is equal parts invitation and curiosity. Lex enjoys spending time around people and things that are probably too dangerous for his own safety. Sonja had piqued that interest the day they met and the mission had only solidified it.

"I'm always up for a little friendly competition." Friendly competition seldom prevents her from playing a bit dirty, but she's sure Lex can handle it. (Sonja's opinion of cheating is usually that it's only cheating if you lose.)

"Ilde designed your decor, didn't she?"

Lex is used to playing dirty, and would probably be a little disappointed in Sonja if she didn't.

"She did. Why do you ask?"
