St Kelley's is one of the more sedate occasions in Baedal, at least as holidays go. It passes more or less unnoticed by the majority of the population as many of them feel it doesn't concern them. It's not their holiday; it's for the others. Those with severed ties and broken hearts. The temple and church preach that it's a time for reflection or for glorifying the generosity of the gods. It's one of the few days on which no one looks askance at first generation Citizens mourning their missing loved ones publicly.
As night rolls around and floating lanterns are set to sea, the Apache in Mog Hill prepares to accept guests from the newer cohorts. It's something that happens every year, making it a practical tradition. The alcohol will be cheaper for first timers, and the music will be kept at a reasonable level.

He nods. "Ms. Bishop is in the same generation as my nephews, if that gives you a better frame of reference." In terms of timelines, at least. He doesn't imagine Kate would have gone into the whole frozen-in-time thing, however, so he will just continue to side-step that, thank you. "You– the Steve Rogers I know once led a team that included myself and my sister, Wanda. He's a friend," simply, " and a good man."

But he's never been one to turn away someone's friendship. Obviously, in their world, he means something to Pietro and his sister. Steve smiles. "Thank you. I guess I'm a whole lot younger than you remember; I hope I live up to your memories of me."
Memories. From the future. Gosh this is all so confusing...

There's a slight pause after, a hint of guilt at the things he's leaving out in the way his eyes flick downward, but it's brief. He remembers M-Day, the whole world that Wanda made out of dreams come true, and Steve – he wasn't Captain America, he wasn't a super-soldier, he wasn't even on their radar. For all Pietro knows, he lived out the rest of his days in peace. If that's the life Steve wants, Pietro isn't about to tell him it will be any different.
"I wouldn't worry about it. Who knows where your life will take you, hm? Let me get you another seltzer water," not even mocking, because guess what he's drinking? (Inability-to-get-drunk bros is the worst kind of bros.) "You can tell me how you've settled into this confounded place."

He seems to have inspired a lot of faith and trust in people, over the years--even way in the future! Knowing this does Steve's heart good.
"And thanks," he adds, for the drink offer. "But you're gonna have to tell me the same, just warning you."
no subject
He's not kidding about that; one second he's there and the next he's gone, zipped in through the door and tapping on the bar impatiently. The bartender doesn't look like he cares much for that for some reason, nor for the fact that all Pietro is ordering are two seltzer waters, and so the wait for the drinks is the most time-consuming bit.
That he returns at that speed without spilling either drink may actually be fairly impressive. (Pietro, quit showing off.)

So he nearly jumps away from it when Pietro seems to snap back into existence, plus one glass of seltzer, in no time at all.
"Well, I-- gosh," he says, blinking. And then a smile creeps across his lips. "Guess I understand now how come you worked with me, huh?" It makes sense to him that if there were other people out there who were more than ordinary, he'd have thrown his lot in with them.
"Thank you."
