OPEN :: A golden bird was singing

Where: The Apache and surrounding environs.
When: Veerdi evening.

(3) Dance!

St Kelley's is one of the more sedate occasions in Baedal, at least as holidays go. It passes more or less unnoticed by the majority of the population as many of them feel it doesn't concern them. It's not their holiday; it's for the others. Those with severed ties and broken hearts. The temple and church preach that it's a time for reflection or for glorifying the generosity of the gods. It's one of the few days on which no one looks askance at first generation Citizens mourning their missing loved ones publicly.
As night rolls around and floating lanterns are set to sea, the Apache in Mog Hill prepares to accept guests from the newer cohorts. It's something that happens every year, making it a practical tradition. The alcohol will be cheaper for first timers, and the music will be kept at a reasonable level.

"Good idea keeping an eye on her, we don't need people making a mess here," not only because it'd reflect badly on their cohort -- the public opinion is already pretty bad, "But it should be alright as long as she won't hurt anyone."
Steph watches, leaning up on her tip toes a little even though she can see Kaitlyn perfectly fine, it's a bit of an instinctual reaction. Her eyes widen when Kaitlyn blows the light out over the water, and her smile is wide and awed, "It's beautiful."
no subject
"I don't think she's the hurting type. I don't really know a lot about her, mostly hearsay and stories from other people. She sounds more like the 'find creative ways to fuck you over' type." Kaitlyn grins, letting her hands sink back into her pockets as she steps back. "I don't think she'll be a problem, but it's probably a lot t' hope for for her t' turn over a new leaf or something." She shrugs. It's not a big deal to her. If it becomes a problem, she'll worry about it then, as she normally does.
no subject
"Fucking people over can hurt them too," her voice is kind of flat as she says it, and she makes a note to check out this friend of Kaitlyn's, "What's her name?"
no subject
SHe quirks an eyebrow as she turns back to Kaitlyn, giving a bit of a small nod. "Well- yes. I didn't mean she's harmless. I just don't think she's going to causing any mayhem or anything. Nothing- big, you know? She'd just two faced." She thinks for a moment, rolling her shoulders before she speaks up again. "Odessa. Like I said, I'll keep an eye on her. I don't think she'll be causing any problems though."
no subject
"I'll trust you to keep an eye on her," That says a lot, even if Kaitlyn might not understand just how much of a big deal it is for Steph to let someone else deal with a potential problem. She has control issues sometimes.
no subject
"It'll be fine," is a repeated reassurance, re: Odessa. "It's something I'd do anyway. If there's one thing I can do, it's talk t' people. Endlesssly. It's a good way of keepin' them out of trouble without even trying!"
no subject
Steph gives a little laugh, shaking her head, "I totally believe that. You're a chatty one." It's obvious she doesn't mind at all, Steph is pretty chatty herself.
no subject
"So, are you going to go join the party proper at all?" she inquires, a curious look angled Steph's way. "Not that you have t'. It's a bit crowded for me in the bar, but the jukebox has Joan Jett, so I'm gonna brave it a bit more later."
no subject
"I'll head back eventually. I'm meeting a friend there, and I shouldn't stand her up, but it'll take her a bit to get here." She's at least 90% sure she dragged Kate out of bed.
no subject
no subject
"Kate's nice, I'm sure you two would get along." Steph's judgement is based on the fact that she likes them both, so clearly they have to like each other; this is probably not completely logical, but it's how Steph works.
The question makes her pause, "Um..." and this is where she tries to untangle her extremely complicated feelings for Kate, which is kind of impossible, so she just settles for, "Yeah, she is." It's cool for girls to think other girls a cute without it needing to be a thing, right?
no subject
"She'd have t' be pretty bad off for me t' not get along with her," Kaitlyn notes as she strains up a bit more. "I'll keep an ear out for her or somethin', in case I bump into her around town." The name's already committed to memory. Or at least as cmitted as anything can be to Kaitlyn's memory.
no subject
"She's in our cohort, so you'll probably catch her around the network at least," it's a little weird, all the cohort stuff but Steph's starting to get used to it, and it can be handy a lot of the time. "She's built like me, but with dark hair."
no subject
"The whole cohort thing is super cool, but I have no idea how you keep track of it," Kaitlyn admits. "It's a little overwhelming. And I'm not sure I like the idea of just anyone in our group seein' what's posted, you know? I'm glad they let you do private stuff. I'd go absolutely mad without that."
no subject
"Magic," that is not true, she just spends a lot of time scrolling through people's public calls and videos, "I guess it's the same as posting something on an open blog, or like, Facebook if you don't have the privacy settings turned on."
no subject
"I guess. I mean, I had Facebook on my phone and all back home, but this is so much more... integral? It's kinda interestin', but it gets a little frustrating since I'm not really that used to following anything like that so constantly. She sighs and shakes her head. "I guess I'll figure it out. I really should be learning to use it more anyyway."
no subject
"It can be helpful, especially with getting jobs and things. I started up a little seamstressing thing, and I got most of my customers from people seeing my announcement on the cohort network." That's been put a bit on the backburner lately, but she's stil doing pieces here and there.
Totally did not mean for this to turn into Kait semi-flirting. Oops!
Feeling embarrassed again, she takes the open opportunity to change the subject rather quickly. "Oooh, I must have missed that! That's a good way to make some side money. Maybe once I get some, I'll get you t' make a scarf or a sweater for me. Sounds like you've had a good bit of luck with it. That's awesome."
aha, it's fine! Steph flirts with people all the time, it's about time she's had it turned around
"I do alterations and stuff too, so if you have a pair of pants that are too long or don't quite fit right, I can fix 'em up for you," Steph is a budding little business woman (not really), "But yeah, I've been lucky and it's nice to have a little extra cash."
no subject
"So far, the clothes I have here are good. A bit not really my style, but beggers can't be chooses and all that jazz." Hands slip back into pockets and she gives a light shrug. "Whatever I end up doing, I'll probably keep playing music out an' about for a little big extra. If you're ever in Dog Fen, I've been spending time in Main Street Park playing when I'm not trying t' be a responsible adult. It's actually been kinda fun, having t' do the whole street performer thing again." Not that that means she wants to keep doing it as a way of making money.
no subject
"There's some good thrift stores around, and they seem to have more stuff from back home," she wonders if clothes ever come through the fog, but she hasn't investigated stelanmancy all that much. "Main Street Park," she repeats back to show she's gonna memorize it, "I'll drop by sometime. I'm glad you're having fun with it."
no subject
"Yeah, I play there a few times a week, just my guitar on a bench. It works pretty well, and people are surprisingly generous if you catch them in the right mood, with the right music. Hopefully soon I can return the guitar case and just play for fun, though. I know Inger will enjoy having the case back at the room to hide in."
no subject
"I couldn't ever do street perfomaning, it must take a lot of patience," Steph would get bored and want to wander off and do something else. Not that the library is super interesting, but at least she's guaranteed a pay check there.
no subject
"Well, I mean... I guess it's something you could only do if you really love music or performance. Or really need money," Kaitlyn says as she looks back over at Steph "Or all three!" she adds quickly, flashing a smile over at Steph. "But I figure it's like that for anything you love or are dedicated to, you know? I mean, you wouldn't do seamstressing if you didn't really like it or if you didn't need money, right?"
no subject
"I think my problem is that even if I needed the cash I couldn't do it. My skill set isn't really applicable to street performances," This is not entirely true, if she actually gave it serious consideration, a lot of her acrobatic skills could be used, "And I'd have trouble staying in one spot for long enough to get any money."
