St Kelley's is one of the more sedate occasions in Baedal, at least as holidays go. It passes more or less unnoticed by the majority of the population as many of them feel it doesn't concern them. It's not their holiday; it's for the others. Those with severed ties and broken hearts. The temple and church preach that it's a time for reflection or for glorifying the generosity of the gods. It's one of the few days on which no one looks askance at first generation Citizens mourning their missing loved ones publicly.

As night rolls around and floating lanterns are set to sea, the Apache in Mog Hill prepares to accept guests from the newer cohorts. It's something that happens every year, making it a practical tradition. The alcohol will be cheaper for first timers, and the music will be kept at a reasonable level.

Since Will is behaving like a normal person today and not creeping around in an alley way in Flyside, it's kind of nice to see familiar faces in amongst all the strangers. At the moment, Jae is decidedly the most familiar, which is probably a good way to start off the night. He still hasn't decided what to do, so he can just set it aside for now and try to enjoy himself.

“Hey there,” he says, dropping down next to Jae at the bar. “This seems familiar.” Less loud music and drunk people than usual, but that suits Will fine.

"Hey you. Happy whatever." Because he totally doesn't care, caring is for other people, who have no emotional attachments and Jae is way too cool for that!! (Ignore the fact that he sent a boat out.) "How's the dance business?"

[charismatic]

“I'd have to be getting paid for it to be a business.” Will leans his elbows on the bar, expression a study in spurious deep thought. “You think I could pick that up as a sideline?”

[boomvox]

"At a strip club? Definitely." Jae would put a dollar in your panties, Will. You'd be cute. He picks up his refilled beer mug after the bar tender sets it down and nods at the other man. "Do you want one? -A beer, not a career as an exotic dancer, though I'd support either."

[charismatic]

“I will definitely take a beer. The other thing, I'll take under advisement.” Though, honestly, Will would do it if he thought he could get through it without laughing. He thinks he's plenty sexy, but he's never been able to take the performative element very seriously. “I'm sure I'd make plenty of money, though.”

[boomvox]

"You have to be very dedicated to your craft," Jae informs him, and gestures at the bar tender. "It's not just a cute ass business, you should see the dancers at the Vault. They're artists. Though you do have a cute ass."

He may have been drinking. Anyway, now Will also has a beer.

[charismatic]

“Thank you,” Will says, both to the bartender and to Jae. “I do,” he adds. “If I ever have enough spare money to visit the Vault, I will be sure to take copious notes.” The arch of his eyebrows is trying very hard to be serious but not quite managing. You will never be a successful exotic dancer, Will.

"I'll put you on the VIP list some night," he says. "I'm too much of a new kid still to be able to, but when I do, you're required to come see me." Of all the places he works, Jae finds he likes the Vault the best - maybe it's because it feels like another world, self-contained, or maybe it's just because he gets to do whatever he wants with the music, and he already has a friendly hookup for his pills. Could be both.

“It's a deal,” Will says. “At the very least, I won't get heckled by dwarves.” Maybe. Actually, he probably will. It might just be his fate in this city.

[boomvox]

"You'll just get heckled by everything else. They let everybody in, there." Jae can't help but laugh. Will truly has a way with small and violent cave-warriors.

[charismatic]

“It's my natural charm,” Will says, attempting to look serious again. He should probably stop trying to do that. “I seem to attract troublemakers.” He makes a slightly ridiculous face at Jae and then takes a drink.

“Oh really,” Will says, leaning back. “Do you need a list?”

"Hey, I pay all my bills on time, what do you want from me?" Jae leans his elbows on the bar top, grinning. "Just because you're susceptible to my charms is no reason to be a hater."

Will reaches over to pat Jae on the shoulder. “Calm down, man,” he says, entirely facetious. “I was just pointing out one of your many entertaining traits.”

[boomvox]

Jae tugs on the imaginary lapels of his jacket - he's wearing a sweater - and rolls his shoulders. "I know I'm good. It's why I make the Benjamins... I don't know who's on a 100 note in Baedal." A beat. "They don't make pounds sterling that high, I always have to use the American denomination for that to be funny."

[charismatic]

“This is the first time I've had hard currency,” Will says, shifting around to rest his chin in his palm. “Everything's digitized at home.”

[boomvox]

"Oh yeah? We had both. Credit cards and e-payments but cash, too. Every country is different with how common paper money is." Jae is one of Those People about carrying cash, and doesn't like doing it, but there's not much of a choice in Baedal. "Where are you from, anyway?"

[charismatic]

"Space," Will says, expression staying carefully neutral, mostly because he wants to see Jae's reaction. He's a troll, but it comes from a place of affection and -- okay, he's mostly just a troll. But telling people and watching the range of reactions the information gets has been consistently entertaining since he got here.
