The skin around Amberdrake's eye is still a rather disconcerting shade of ick from his mean bastard of a black eye the other day, but it's healing up nicely... and a touch faster than one might normally expect. It's not so shockingly noticeable, now, that the kestra'chern will avoid leaving the house at all, although he hasn't yet gone back to work.
In fact, the walk he's on is one he figures will stay solitary, on his way back from... somewhere, heading for the house again. It's a ways off, and he's got his head ducked a bit as he goes, although the vibe around him remains calm and serene as usual.
sorry for the delay! we had a bad storm blowing through
So maybe he's starved for conversation, or maybe it's that barely noticeable black eye, that causes him to glance at the man he passes while taking a bite of fruit. That's the trouble with having keener than usual eyesight.
"How's it going?"
eep, no problem
"My apologies, what was that?"
It doesn't hurt his noticeability that he rather looks like a rainbow may have vomited on him. Although it's all rather controlled and carefully-patterned, and suits his darker skin-tone well. Loose pants, broad sash, beaded tunic and fringed vest... and an open, wing-cut robe with almost dizzyingly-intricate feather patterns.
In short, even without the black eye, he kind of stands out.

"I asked you how it was going," he repeats calmly. Then he added with a charmingly sheepish smile, in case there's some confusion. "Sorry, I'm new in town. Just trying to find my way around."

"It's going... ah... well, I suppose?" Amberdrake isn't often thrown by slang, but he's literally never heard that one before. As for being new and not knowing one's way around, he can understand that one well enough. "Are you trying to find something in particular?"

Then he laughs. Tourists are always getting themselves into these things, he'll understand.

Amberdrake doesn't know if this guy's in the same cohort he is, after all, or if he arrived in the same place. And while Drake still struggles to deal with things like complicated addresses and named intersections, he knows his cardinal directions.
"I can walk with you a ways, if you like," Drake offers, "my schedule is quite open at the moment."

"Spike Spiegel," he mentions in a way that suggest he's open to the idea. He didn't even have to be the one to come up with it.
sorry for the slowness, had a rough couple days
"Well, west is that way, and obviously east, north, south," he points them all out, just in case. Between all the travel he's done on foot and by wagon, and almost as much by ship, he tends to keep the directions pretty solid in the back of his head. One of the first things he'd done upon arriving was ask which direction was considered which, here.
He'll wander along in whatever direction Spike sets out in, if he does at all.
"Amberdrake," he introduces himself, not giving a surname. Clan affiliation is not quite the same thing, he's found in the past, so he doesn't bother to name it. "I've been in town a little over a month, and yourself?"
no problem at all!
"Around the same, actually." Twice that. It didn't matter back then, so he isn't going to dwell on his shortcomings. There would be plenty more time for that later. Right now, he would focus on Drake, try to gleam what he can out of a fellow survivor. "I haven't even found a place to stay."
