The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap.

Mycroft offers yet another one of those smiles. He knows exactly how much Ilde's father would like Irene, if the somewhat-brief affair he apparently had with Ms Ozcelik is anything to go by.

“Ms Adler is not that kind of friend.” He pauses to raise a brow in mock-consideration. “Not to my family, in any case.”

There's a definite unspoken 'Despite how hard she may have tried to seduce my brother' hanging in the air, but Mycroft's banking on Ilde not having secret powers of deductive logic as well as Irene continuing to content herself with vagueries. The Woman has her own secrets to keep, after all.

Irene rolls her eyes at Mycroft with no real seriousness; it could be called camp, oh, you got me, and she doesn't even bother trying to chase her smile away.

She turns the same smile on Ilde. "From what you've told me about him, I'd have to at least buy your father a drink-" Irene admires reckless absurdity "-although look how that ended for Hasi."

Though the tone of her voice implies that a two month flash of marriage for the hell of it isn't the worst thing she can think of. Well, she did pronounce it 'adorable' when Ilde told her the story. "How do you two know each other?"

It takes Ilde a moment to decide on a mode of address - there is a lot of Miss Decima and Ms Adler happening right now, so she veers away from her blithe instinct to use his first name - but then, promptly, “Mr Holmes reads to me.” Which is the most direct, simplistic answer she can think of; the one that requires the least elaboration and qualification and general fussery. It's just also the one that sounds the most bewildering, all things considered.

Mycroft's lips press into a thin line as he resists turning his head to look incredulously at Ilde. Really, he should have seen this coming from a mile away—he's been the brother of a troublemaker for long enough, after all—but the young cellist seems ready to surprise him at every turn.

Abandoning his initial plan of eyeing Ilde like she's utterly mad, he looks to Irene instead, his expression now relaxed.

“In foreign languages,” he says.

What is the proper etiquette when one is in a dive bar in an alternate dimension speaking to two young ladies who enjoy publicly discussing sex, anyway?

Irene's eyebrows go up, and Mycroft's addition doesn't actually clear anything up for her, so she just says, "Cute."

Very sincerely.

And then she glances to the side, holds up her index finger to both of them as if forbidding them to speak- possibly they're not allowed to in her absence, possibly that's the idea. "Oh, I'll just be a second..."

While she's picking up that scotch from the man she's enlisted- who is so distracted by her leaning into his personal space that he ends up a few steps away before he even realises he's gotten exactly nothing out of that encounter but lighter pockets- and returning, glass in hand.

Accepting a drink from Irene Adler isn't actually much like signing a contract with the devil; the look she gives Mycroft suggests it is anyway.
