The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap.

Ilde, inescapably, is now remembering that story Jae told her about accidentally meeting her father (the other Ilde's father) in a hotel while upside down and trying to get a door open. Not that Mycroft is much (or indeed anything, beyond 'British and spoiled') like her father. Still.

Of course, with the video in her lap (that Mycroft has seen some of) and Jae right here and the thought there in her mind, she doesn't need to have been drinking for it just to come tumbling out of her mouth--

“Jae met my father, once, sort of.”

That, beyond any of the other potentially absurd things this situation could offer, seems to surprise Jae - mild, the controlled reaction of someone used to working in media and having to keep from looking scandalized every other minute. The glance he gives Ilde is both curious and a little concerned, but he smiles anyway - there's a softness to it.

"Almost," he says (clarifies?) to Ilde, a sort of knowing happening there, then he glances back at Mycroft. "I'd had more to drink then. I remain unsure as to how charmed he was."

Mycroft hasn't seen or heard enough regarding Ilde's father to comment on whether Mr Featherstonehaugh would have been charmed or not, and he's certainly not the type to offer empty reassurances. What he does know is that there's some sort of—he's unsure how to describe it, a simultaneous disconnect-yet-significance—going on between Ilde and Jae in relation to this particular story. Perhaps it's simply due to Jae's bemusement at it being brought up (which Mycroft notices), but the repeated clarifications of 'sort of' and 'almost' along with Jae's glance and subsequent smile speak to something else.

The most important thing he takes from the exchange is that the two of them definitely knew each other somehow before they arrived in Baedal. He puts that particular piece of information into his mental file regarding cohort statistics.

“I can only suppose this wasn't in Florence,” he says, politely moving the conversation along.

“Um-- London, I think, you said?”

Two roads diverged (and neither of them were very nice--); Jae knew Ilde, but Ilde didn't know Jae. It's funny how she's careful about the overlap between worlds, touching on it lightly when it's amusing or when she can get something out of it and otherwise aggressively ignoring the idea of there having been some other Ilde who isn't like her. The people from her life who aren't-- are, now, and that's just all there is to it.

“I was going to stay with my uncle in London,” she tells Mycroft, “to attend Guildhall.”
