The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap.

He considers for a moment, then shrugs. "Sniping's not the first thing I'd think of? But part of that's 'cause, I'll be honest, I'm really a lousy shot. I make up for it by closing range, but then the gun usually gets knocked out of my hand after a couple shots and I have to take the fight to Fist City." And quite the fist he has. "A sniper could be useful, though, and I take it you guys have other combat skills besides. If you're good with fancy tech stuff, I'm sure that'll come in handy too."

(Of course he assumes space future people are good with "fancy tech stuff." The kids these days, with their googles and their faceybooks, someone hand him his walker.)

"It's a good job. Dangerous, but it needs doing. I know there are some folks in our cohort who're focused more on figuring out a way home, and I wish them luck in it, but in the meantime, I'm more useful keeping the city intact for them to do it in. And we've... had some losses recently, so yeah, I'm sure you're hiring." He nearly gets a bit maudlin there, but thinks of something and chuckles. "Of course, you'll probably have to get through tryouts with Alucard. He'll try to scare the crap out of you, and to be fair, he's very good at it. Just keep a calm head and show a little spine, and you should be okay."

Oh, he was feeling a lot better at this point, seeming to puff up a little with confidence as he crossed his arms again. "Oh, sure. Very useful. Efficient. You'll never want to go anywhere without one covering your back ever again." His mandibles flared at 'fancy tech stuff'. The poor man, he didn't know the half of it. It wasn't long ago that Garrus was working firing algorithms that probably would've made his head spin. He'd just been itching to get his hands on something ever since he'd gotten here. (Someone give the guy something to calibrate, you will never see him again.)

Still grinning, he glanced aside at Shepard again. The job was dangerous? Something about being scared? He almost wanted to laugh. Surely it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. But then, he'd have to explain how they'd just been fighting giant, galaxy-destroying, sentient warships and that would have gotten messy.

"I'm sure we'll do just fine. We don't scare easily."

"I've seen a lot of scary things," Shepard admitted with a grimace. She had nightmares about it, sometimes. More often lately, not that she was going to say that.

Not even to Garrus.

But the Reapers alone were more than enough to fuel her nightmares for the rest of her life. "Usually, when something tries to scare me, I just get pissed off," she finished with a shrug. "I'm happy to go through whatever... process they've got set up. After all, you're taking a risk to trust a newcomer, with no references and only their word."

Hellboy's chuckle takes on a darker tenor. They all claim to have seen scary stuff, and it's all fun and games until Alucard breaks out the shadowy tentacles and the eyes on every surface.

"Generally, unless the interview or the tryouts turn up something that's obviously bullshit, we tend to take applicants at their word. Either they're what they claim to be, or they'll get themselves killed early on. And yeah, that's been known to happen." He gives an airy wave. "Unlike those guys, though, you both look like you've seen some action. I'm sure you'll be fine."

Just in case, though, he'll be just outside the tryouts with sick buckets and Dr. McCoy's medical staff on standby.
