The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap.

...Okay, it had Jim's help. He's laughing as he does it, waiting until she's got hold of it to let go. "He's a handsome guy, I can see why the gods might bring him here. I'm glad I was able to help reunite you two."
Jim's in good spirits. With all the horrors he's faced in his short time here, he was braced for more; this whole thing is cute, and it's doing him some good.

"But speaking of handsome guys," she says, looking just the tiniest bit mischievous, "what's your name so I know who I'm thanking?" ...madam.

His smile gets brighter, too--he appreciates a woman who's not afraid to flirt or pay a compliment, but there's no entitlement to that smile, just enjoyment of the situation. "Jim Kirk," he says, offering a hand. "Pleasure to meet you."
no subject
It's an unusual clarification (at least where she normally comes from) so he gets a little headtilt of consideration before she asks, "They don't have them where you're from?"
no subject
And then he laughs softly, shaking his head. "No, they don't, not for a long time. I'm from Earth--I grew up in Iowa and had my training in San Francisco. But it was 2259 when I was last home."
no subject
"No kidding? Wow, I must be to you how the Victorians would be to me. I'm from the States --California actually, I moved to San Francisco when I was a teenager. Except I'm from 2012."
And once the initial shock dies down, "Huh. Good to know we didn't manage to all kill one another or blow up the planet somewhere." 'The planet,' indicating the idea of life on others hasn't even occurred to her.
no subject
"We did make it, yeah. Not for lack of trying--there was another world war after your time, more conflict before we finally got our act together. Making first contact with another world beyond Earth helped that a lot--that happened right at the end of your century. But things are much better by my time."

Mr. Cuddles gets propped up on his own stool while Philomena takes one for herself. "You know, you're the second person I've met in this cohort who comes from the future."
no subject
He raises his eyebrows as he tries to get the bartender's attention. "Really? Who's the other person?"
no subject
And speaking of vibes, she gives a little wave of her hand towards the bartender, who immediately looks up (it's not real spell casting). Philomena offers a beaming smile in return, before turning back to Jim. "And this one's on me, for rescuing my fluffy friend. It's the least I can do."
no subject
"He's a Starfleet officer, too, same as me. Only he's from way after me, like another hundred years or so."
no subject
The bartender comes over and she requests, "I'll have another cherry schnapps with lemonade and, if you're feeling generous, some cocktail cherries, too?" The last request is spoken in a 'pretty, pretty please' tone before she turns to Jim. "And you're having...?"
no subject
He turns back to her once the bartender has departed, smiling. "Yeah, I've met Data. He actually serves on a future version of the ship I'm on now, a couple generations ahead of me. It's weird meeting people from your future, isn't it?" He'd been the one from the future in nearly all his interactions in the city up to that point; meeting Data had given him some insight into how weird and fascinating it must all be for everyone else.
no subject
It's odd, being able to be open about that here. Odd but nice.
And the bartender comes back with their drinks a moment later, with cherries for everyone. Although Philomena stands up on the stool a minute to sneak a paper umbrella from a tub behind the counter. Voila, this drink is complete.
no subject
The cherries surprise him slightly--he supposes he did say "another of the same" but he didn't realize the guy would take it so literally--but it's delightful, he's down with it. He grins at the umbrella theft, and then he raises his glass for a toast.
"Here's to the gods, I guess? For reuniting you and your bear."
no subject
"Cheers," she says, clinking glasses. "And I hope they gift you with something good in return."
