The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap.

Steph lets Kalinda put the beer back on the table, letting go once it's settled. Her own figners were high on the neck, having predicted Kalinda trying to grab it back and not wanting to give up the secret too soon.

Carefully, quietly, she moves closer to Kalinda, circling around slightly to tug lightly at the dressing gown. She's biting her lip to stop from laughing; she's having too much fun with this.
betterthansubpoenas: (then i see the look in your eyes)

[personal profile] betterthansubpoenas 2012-04-15 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, what? Kalinda doesn't refuse to accept the possibility of ghosts or other such entities, but she hasn't run into any personally yet, so she's more inclined to suspect something - someone - more corporeal at this stage.

Which is why turns in her chair slowly as if to examine the robe itself, but then sweeps her leg out where she imagines an invisible man to be standing. (Which is ridiculous. What is your life, Kalinda?)

The kick doesn't quite catch Steph, but there is the definite sound of her moving to avoid it, heels clicking slightly on the floor.

"Spoilsport," and that's a familiar voice, coming from a couple of feet behind the chair now, but there's still no visible source for it.
betterthansubpoenas: (your eyes grow soft)

[personal profile] betterthansubpoenas 2012-04-15 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Steph?" That was unexpected. Turning to look over the back of the chair, though she can only make her best guess as to where Steph actually is (and her eyes are up there, she's certain), Kalinda shakes her head. "Now that's some trick."

Steph gets all the best toys.
controlledvariable: (civvies -- things are actually going wel)

[personal profile] controlledvariable 2012-04-15 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
"The one and only," Which sounds even more awesome coming from a disembodied voice, "Hold on."

No longer trying to stay silent, she moves around to one side of the chair, crouching down so that she's not so obviously in the view of the rest of the bar and turns the device off.

Suddenly: a Stephanie! She grins at Kalinda and offers the invisibility device for her to inspect.
betterthansubpoenas: (idk my bff cary)

[personal profile] betterthansubpoenas 2012-04-15 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
"This your gift?" Kalinda asks casually as she accepts the device to look it over. "Or have you just been holding out on me?" The corner of her mouth ticks up faintly. If there was any annoyance over the prank, it's faded away already.

Though one might wish to keep in mind the suggested temperature for a serving of revenge.
controlledvariable: (PB >> I'll see you)

[personal profile] controlledvariable 2012-04-15 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
She's willing to accept revenge for the prank; that's half the fun of pranking, after all.

"It's my gift, the gods like me," Which is weird to say, but she's going with that theory for now, "I stole it once, back home, but I gave it back. I guess it's mine forever now."

She doesn't seem to feel any guilt about having stolen it once. Deal with it, STAR Labs.
betterthansubpoenas: (i always said you'd get far)

[personal profile] betterthansubpoenas 2012-04-15 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's weird to hear. Except maybe from the mouth of Grace Florrick. Arguably this constitutes further proof of both the existence of the Gods here in Baedal, but also their favour. "Finders keepers," Kalinda muses. "I'm not sure what they sent for me yet. But I found this," she tilts her head to indicate the robe, "hanging on my closet door this morning. I'm sure someone will be pleased to have it."
controlledvariable: (civvies -- this isn't going as planned)

[personal profile] controlledvariable 2012-04-15 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
"It's weird," Steph makes a face at the dressing gown; it's a nice one, sure, but it's also a dressing gown. What the hell, twelve point divinity? She does give it a quick inspection though, before deciding to take a proper seat on the lounge beside Kalinda. Rather than staying crouched down and half hidden like a creeper.

"I found a locked wooden box and my girlfriend woke up to a map," which are both pretty boring things on their own, although finding out what was in Sebastian's box was interesting.

"A lot of the things seem to be personal items." Which doesn't surprise her, but it's worth noting.
betterthansubpoenas: (looking for heaven for the devil in me)

[personal profile] betterthansubpoenas 2012-04-15 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Seems like." Kalinda's brows lift as her chin tips down, she glances sidelong to her blonde companion. "Probably means I'm not getting anything." She's kidding, probably. But there's a distinct possibility that if something from her past has shown up for her here, she simply won't claim it. "I'm not much for sentimentality," she offers as the punchline.

She already has her baseball bat, after all.
controlledvariable: (civvies -- I dare you)

[personal profile] controlledvariable 2012-04-15 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
"That surprises me," with all the seriousness she can muster, which is admittedly not very much, and there's a hint of a grin on her face.

"Maybe you'll just get a box of chocolates," Not the worst thing someone could get, considering what else is floating around this evening.
betterthansubpoenas: (gonna see if i can find a fuck to give)

[personal profile] betterthansubpoenas 2012-04-15 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you think?" she gasps out with faux-excitement. "Maybe a cinnamon latte from Starbucks." She grins then, properly and conspiratorially. Stephanie seems to understand her in some small way, and isn't bothered by how Kalinda chooses not to hold onto things the way others might.

"Did you see the vibrator?" That's really better asked without preamble, okay? "I'm pretty sure it was studded with actual diamonds."
controlledvariable: (PB >> you gotta try a little harder)

[personal profile] controlledvariable 2012-04-15 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
"That would just prove the gods have terrible taste," Not that Steph is secretly a hipster or anything, but Starbucks, ugh. And while Steph might be sentimental herself, she can understand not wanting to be, especially when they come with strings attached like tonight. You only get your gift if you talk to a stranger, is a little bit bullshit.

The question gets a laugh, "I love a sex toy as much as the next girl, but I think the diamonds are taking it too far."
betterthansubpoenas: (i'm always in the dark)

[personal profile] betterthansubpoenas 2012-04-15 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
"You would not be wrong." Whether she enjoys a cinnamon latte or not, the gods can surely do better. But again, there are worse things...

"If no one claims it in the next hour, I say one of us pretends we were too embarrassed to claim it earlier. We can pry the rocks off it and split the profits." And destroy such a work of art? Kalinda! -- She's joking. Honest. "Or I suppose you could just turn invisible there and steal it." But that strays from the grey area of trickery and heads over to theft. That's not quite her style.
controlledvariable: (civvies -- please don't murder me)

[personal profile] controlledvariable 2012-04-15 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll make you a cinnamon latte one day and it'll be better than any Starbucks crap," Steph does not have the equipment to make lattes, but she can always sneak into a cafe after hours and make one. It can't be that hard.

"I think turning invisible is cheating, also the dude guarding it looks like he could kill me with a glare, whether or not he could see me," Logan is kind of terrifying. Somewhat ironically, if Steph saw the vibrator she'd know who it belonged to, or she'd at least guess accurately based on The Woman.
betterthansubpoenas: (damned if i do and i'm damned if i don't)

[personal profile] betterthansubpoenas 2012-04-15 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Kalinda chuckles quietly. "I'm pretty sure I've seen the guy before. I think he's a bouncer." Which is like admitting that he looks intimidating, even to her. "Oh well. Who knows where it's been anyway?" One can wager a few guesses.
controlledvariable: (PB >> a way to do it just right)

[personal profile] controlledvariable 2012-04-15 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I hope that was a rhetorical question, because if I have to explain I think you missed some vital lessons in sex ed class," There's a raised eyebrow to go with that statement, and a barely concealed smirk.
betterthansubpoenas: (there was light in my life)

[personal profile] betterthansubpoenas 2012-04-15 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
She laughs then, really laughs. Rocking forward with one hand over her mouth kind of laughter. Because she needs it. "That's cute," she sighs out. "No, I learned all that in extracurricular activities," Kalinda assures.
controlledvariable: (PB >> you gotta try a little harder)

[personal profile] controlledvariable 2012-04-15 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
Steph's grin is somwhere between smug and cheeky; she's glad she got a laugh out of Kalinda.

"Probably for the best, actual sex ed classes are really terrible," Not so terrible that she can blame that for her getting pregnant, but still pretty damn bad.
