The Apache is much the same as it always is: dimly lit, with the jukebox playing in the background, and the bartender serving whatever's on tap.

"That's alright, I hope it's--" What? Not entirely terrible? A fun trip down memory lane? Everything she could say seems kind of ridiculous, "I hope you find a use for it."

There, that's reasonably sensible. Even if the memories already in there aren't ones he'd want, he can use it to store his own, maybe? Steph is going to have to ask Hermione more about pensieves.

"I'm sure I will." Velcro noses against Sebastian's leg and leans against him to encourage a bit of petting and to distract him from an ugly train of thought. "Have you ever known someone who did both great and terrible things and then afterwards you couldn't understand what on earth they must've been thinking?"

It's funny (or maybe not) how her first thought is her dad killing Jim Murray, but that was never a great thing, no matter his motivation, so she shoves that thought away.

"Yes," She eventually answers, "I know a lot of people like that." It might be part of being a superhero, or being a Bat. Either way, Bruce, Tim, even Dick and Cass have all done great and terrible things.

"My ex, for one," just to expand on it a little, "He's done a lot of good, but a lot terrible things too and some of them -- I've never understood why. I think he was just trying to do what was right, but you have to wonder if there was a better way."

"If you were told that you could know exactly why he did what he did, would you want to know?" It's a question Sebastian has mulled over from time to time and now, even with the pensieve in hand, he's still without an answer that pleases him.

That's a serious question and she gives it the thought it deserves, reclaiming her drink from where she put it down and glancing at the pensieve as she takes a sip and mulls the question over. Again, her thoughts go to her dad and Jim Murray, and wondering why he did what he did. She also thinks of Tim and his lists, strategies to take down enemies and friends alike and even when she'd asked why, he couldn't give her a real answer.

"I think I would. I like having answers, even if they're not pleasant ones," A lot of life isn't pleasant, and she's never been one for hiding her head in the sand.

Sebastian is less concerned with unpleasant answers than he is poorly thought out ones. Soon, he'll end up asking Malfoy what's the greater tragedy: that a man you trusted was ruthlessly working for the greater good or that thanks to simple, unthinking mistakes brought about a civil war and suffering?

"Thank you again and my apologies for not being too happy to see this thing once more." He offers to shake hands to show his gratitude.

She accepts the handshake, her grip firm and she gives a small smile as well, "Don't worry about it," Which could be a response to either the thanks or the apology (or both).

"I hope the rest of your night goes better," Although she doubts it, considering he'll have this 'gift' weighing on his mind.
