About midday, a call goes out on the Hellsing filter from Dean, setting this thing up.

By mid-afternoon, with help, there are a couple of grills going, crabs on the boil, tables lined up in the grass behind the guild hall. There's meat, there's shellfish, there's vegetables and side dishes. There's even some wine and beer.

Hello, Hellsing. Come meet and greet your fellow operatives.

"I do," he confirmed, "very much. I have several, or did back where I came from." He assumes the conversation with Sol about leylines can wait, though a small nod confirms it's as he remembers as well.

The accusing look that Sol receives for Lucius's response indicates she had been making a point with her innocent inquiry about puppies, and he runs a hand over her hair with a more wry expression, pocketing his handkerchief for now. "Probably not corgis, Liesl Tee."

"You don't know," she mutters, mutinously.

"Hounds, mainly," he says, mildly apologetic. "My son might like something smaller one day soon, though." Or not; Draco hasn't shown much aptitude for animals.

"I like corgis-" Liesl stresses the word, mimicking her father, and her general demeanour suggests that if Lucius wants to fight about it, she could totally take him. Who cares that he's tall. She can get you in the ankles, bro. She can take you down.

"They're footrests that waddle, baby," Sol tells her, bouncing her a little in his arms. "Uncle Rich keeps footrests that waddle."

"He doesn't like it when you call him that," she objects, then to Lucius, "He really doesn't like it when he calls him that."

"-you know, I'm sure Mr Malfoy's little boy would love Richard's corgis."

"He's only a little older than you," Lucius says, like agreement. "So I'll have to ask him when I get home, whether he'd like a corgi or not."

And he likely will, now, though not first thing.

"Maheike likes corgis," Liesl mutters, sufficiently appeased to subside a little, turning her face restlessly against Sol's shoulder and pouting. She isn't crying any more, just damp and cranky, so they're probably in the clear for Sol needing to cut play-time short and take her back inside.

"Maheike's my niece," Sol explains, briefly, upon certainty that that is all Liesl has to say on the subject. "And I'm sure her brothers have opinions, too, but I won't hold my breath for the girls to care what they are."

Lucius has his moments of decency. This is one of them. What a bro.

"Well, girls never do, do they?" He smiles a little and says, "Perhaps we'll catch up another time, but I'd hate to go on being disappointingly not the right person."
