OPEN::Just trying to get by
Who: Astrid Farnsworth and YOU! Come say hi to one of the new members of your cohort.
What: Astrid's finally ventured out of her room at the Valhalla and is getting coffee.
Where: Queequeg's
When: Sukkardi, around mid-day
Notes: ...Astrid is awkward?
Warnings: None yet.
It took a couple of days for Astrid to feel comfortable venturing out after Olivia let her out of the room she arrived in. It was a precaution, mostly - if she could try to come to terms with everything being different before she went out, she could probably avoid having a meltdown in public, and she very much wanted to avoid that.
Olivia had mentioned a place that served coffee, and she was more than a little excited by the prospect of being able to drink coffee regularly. That's what drew her outside, eventually - a nice, simple task that would have something she enjoyed involved in it. And she made it without any mishaps.
So now she's sitting at a little table in the corner with a big mug of coffee with cream and sugar and a plate with some sort of danish-like pastry on it, slowly and methodically chipping away at both.

So it is that Astrid can see the big, obviously demonic-looking man walk in. He greets the staff warmly in his gravelly baritone, and they're about as friendly with him as they are with any other customer. He orders an extra large mug and a bagel with cream cheese, and once he has them turns to survey the seating area. Mostly he's just looking to see where there's a free table, but when he spots Astrid, one brow raises under its horn-stump in apparent recognition. With a shrug, he figures he might as well go see what he can see.
"Excuse me," he says, his tone polite though obviously only so much so since he's effectively accosting a stranger. "Astrid, right? Olivia's old coworker from back home?" Not his back-home, obviously, but he's hoping this should at least give an idea of how he's heard of her.

What does give her pause once she has that delightfully warm cup of caffeine, sugar, cinnamon, and more sugar in the form of whipped creme in hand is the sight of one of the new people she saw on the cohort the other day. It's probably rude to just walk up and bother someone, but that's never really stopped Kaitlyn before.
"Hey," she remarks as she approaches, leaning against the wall facing Astrid. "I saw you on the cohort. Welcome t' Baedal." All said with a smile of course, the genuine kind rather than the flippant, uncaring kind. "Not that I think I'm really fit t' be welcoming anyone, I'm pretty new m'self."
