blow a kiss for all the hearts they gon drop

Who: EVERYONE IN THE WORLD
What: When it's time to party we will always party hard.
Where: Megan's apartment, Howl Barrow
When: Sukkardi/Saturday night
Notes: Threadjacking is encouraged. Also, again, if you want to tag in but your character wouldn't just show up, feel free to assume Megan befriended them somewhere and dragged them over/invited them personally.
Warnings: Preemptive warnings for drug use, naughty language and sexual situations.

Megan's housepartment (it looks like a house to her, but the realtor assured her it is an apartment, okay, whatever) is a quaint little thing in the middle of a friendly, middle class Howl Barrow street that is deceptively tame by day and comes alive by night. Her neighbours are super chill, which is her favourite part of living here -- she asked around about a party, if the noise would be a problem, and nobody had any problem with it. Howl Barrow rules.

The inside's a bit furnitureless right now -- she's got a few mismatched chairs and a pull-out sofa, that's about it -- but she's already started decorating a little, hanging art on the walls and putting up nice curtains. (Nobody is allowed to puke on her new curtains.) She's well-stocked with a wide selection of alcohol, ranging from mid-price beer to hard liquor, and snacks, nothing fancy.

She's got her bong out too, yeah.

By 7, there's already a couple people milling about and drinking -- coworkers from the Vault, mostly. Music's playing from an old suitcase turntable set up on the kitchen counter, it's something Baedal-native, hard rock, and in an alien language.

For the shy and/or drunken Snow Whites, there's a friendly, fluffy ragdoll cat lounging around, casually draping herself wherever is most convenient for attention and adulation. Caution: do not give cat beer.

"Military? I think the brochure said something about a militia or something." [Jay was still blissfully unaware of how bad the militia in this place was, of course. In fact, he didn't really realize he was even in a police state yet.] "I'm a mechanical engineer. I've started doing maintenance on the trains."

“That seems like a good job,” Will says, sliding over the mention of the militia. He's not really interested in staying in the military, especially not here, where he doesn't really know what the climate is like. From his first day here, it seems like he's not the only ex-soldier around, at least. “Should stay stable.”

"Yeah. I was really glad I found it, too, since waking up in a weird place with a brochure that says you've got a time limit on finding a job kind of had me worried." He took a sip of his beer, slowly working on it during the moments where he wasn't speaking. "If you save your money, though, you should be able to get more time at the Inn, at least. If you have to."

“I'm hoping to find something soon so I don't have to,” Will says, giving his own drink an absent stir. It's a little unsettling, staying in the place where you've been jerked out of your own reality. “I've got a couple leads to follow, so hopefully I'll find something soon.”

"Yeah. What did you have in mind? It was surprisingly pretty easy to get a job, so you'll probably get hired pretty easily. I didn't have much luck offering my services freelance while I was waiting for that, but that's probably because most people don't necessarily need a mechanical engineer at any given moment. Especially since this place seems to be a little...behind on tech."
charismatic: (i'm really sexy ok)

[personal profile] charismatic 2012-01-11 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
“That's probably a big part of my problem,” Will says, shrugging a little bit. “But I'm a quick learner. I'll just have to find something that's not boring.” He's good at what he does, but what he does isn't necessary here. Other people are doing it, and he doesn't want to get involved.

"Yeah. And most of the tech here is really easy to catch onto. I mean, with fewer computerized parts, it's easier to figure some things out just because you can literally see how it works. Not...saying you necessarily want to do any work with that, it just makes the learning process go by faster when figuring stuff out."
charismatic: (hmmm)

[personal profile] charismatic 2012-01-12 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Will nods, considering. Maybe he can look at that, if he can't find something he's better suited to. Working directly with tech would still be better than paper pushing. “I'll keep it in mind,” he says, and there's a pause, where he's looking out at the rest of the crowd. “Not much for parties?”

"No, not really. I wasn't going to come, but Hilmi dragged me out here, and I think he disappeared. I haven't seen him in a while." Jay glanced around, in case he might spot the guy, but, of course, he didn't. "Figures he'd drag me out here then go off and get laid or something..."

“I don't think I know him,” Will says, but he's laughing a little anyway. He's definitely known guys like that. A time or two, he might have been a guy like that. “I don't really know anyone here, actually,” he adds. “I got invited on the train.”

[personal profile] studious_snake 2012-01-13 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. It seems pretty easy to meet people here...I guess that's because everyone you chat with on the internet equivalent is somewhere in the city, so it's more likely to lead to actually meeting them."
charismatic: (look. i'm a gentleman. i drink espresso.)

[personal profile] charismatic 2012-01-14 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
“It seems like it,” Will says, shaking his head. He swirls his half-melted drink around in the glass. “I'm going to get a fresh drink.”

He nodded. Jay's own drink was getting warm, but he knew if he got a new drink, he'd probably end up wasting that one, too. He, quite simply, wasn't much of a drinker. Still, maybe if he got a little drunk, he might relax enough to actually enjoy himself, so while he was alone, he made himself actually take a few large gulps of his beer, ignoring the taste of warm beer as he did so. He made a face, but feeling the warm feeling trickling into his head, he had the feeling this would work. Either that, or he'd just end up lounging somewhere and relaxing, not caring that a party was going on around him.

Of course, he'd have to remain firmly human, he reminded himself, so he couldn't relax too much. Of course, having only had one beer, there was hardly a danger of that yet. Finally, he decided he'd go get a fresh beer, having finally finished his first, and, tossing the can into the trash went over to get some more.
