Megan's housepartment (it looks like a house to her, but the realtor assured her it is an apartment, okay, whatever) is a quaint little thing in the middle of a friendly, middle class Howl Barrow street that is deceptively tame by day and comes alive by night. Her neighbours are super chill, which is her favourite part of living here -- she asked around about a party, if the noise would be a problem, and nobody had any problem with it. Howl Barrow rules.

The inside's a bit furnitureless right now -- she's got a few mismatched chairs and a pull-out sofa, that's about it -- but she's already started decorating a little, hanging art on the walls and putting up nice curtains. (Nobody is allowed to puke on her new curtains.) She's well-stocked with a wide selection of alcohol, ranging from mid-price beer to hard liquor, and snacks, nothing fancy.

She's got her bong out too, yeah.

By 7, there's already a couple people milling about and drinking -- coworkers from the Vault, mostly. Music's playing from an old suitcase turntable set up on the kitchen counter, it's something Baedal-native, hard rock, and in an alien language.

For the shy and/or drunken Snow Whites, there's a friendly, fluffy ragdoll cat lounging around, casually draping herself wherever is most convenient for attention and adulation. Caution: do not give cat beer.

"I've heard it's deadly so I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be window cleanig. I was supposed to ask a Jae about it, but I'm guessing it's a different Jay than you."

"Yeah, definitely not me. I know nothing about the blue stuff. I might have a beer. That seems safe enough."

"The beer is pretty good. Which is surprising when you consider it's basically a frat party."

"And beer's less likely to get you too drunk." At least, as long as he drank in moderation, which he would. It wouldn't do to pass out and turn into a snake, after all. Or to throw up half digested rats, for that matter. "Excuse me, I'll be right back, I'm going to go get a beer so I can practice the whole 'drinking and smiling' thing."

"Good point, I think Megan might kill you if you throw up on her curtains." She smiles and gives a little mock-salute, "Go for it."

"I wasn't even thinking about her curtains. I just don't want to throw up." Then he went away for a moment, getting a can of beer and, popping the top, sipped off the foam that bubbled up to keep it from spilling as he walked back to Stephanie and resumed his place against the wall. Sure, he'd drink and make himself look happy, but he wasn't going to mingle any more than he had been before.

"Most people don't." She watches the crowd as she waits, making sure everyone is happy and safe. It's hard to turn off the vigilante switch in her brain. When he returns, she gives him a smile.

"So did Megan talk you into coming, or did someone else drag you along?" Considering how he's been acting, Jay doesn't seem like the type to come to a party just 'cause it was happening.

"Hilmi did, actually." However, she was definitely right in that he wasn't the type to just show up at a party of his own accord. He was also aware of how obvious that fact was, so was hardly surprised that she came to that conclusion.

"I'm gonna have to start stalking the network or something, there are so many people I don't know." She's more likely to just keep wandering around and talking to people, meeting them that way, but the stalking-the-network option is a viable back up.

"I stalk the network pretty much, but I'm used to having the internet at home, and only having one thing that sometimes gets updates is still pretty weird."

He wasn't even that concerned with getting to know people, it was just a chunk of low energy entertainment that was now missing from his life. He'd probably replace that with engineering projects, though.

"Tell me about. I miss Facebook. And youtube." Seriously, she doesn't know how people surive without the internet. "I'm surprised no one here has hijacked the network to make their own internet."

She's pretty sure it doesn't work that way, but she can hope.

"I'm guessing no one here knows how. I'm sure I'll get used to it, though."

Babs probably does, but Steph won't say that out loud.

"I won't. It's like living in the dark ages. I'm surprised we don't have to use candles as a light source." She realizes she's being a bit melodramatic.
