The show starts at nine o'clock, and the bar is full pretty quickly thereafter, but the variety in the club is pretty striking. Xenians in their best suits, non-Xenians in leather and ripped fishnets, everything in between. There doesn't seem to be a lot of cultural divide here between human and not, even given recent issues. Hasibe makes good on her promise to have members of her cohort given seating preference, as she's sweet-talked the cocktail dress-clad hostesses, and the bartenders (in their vague approximations of suits with very open shirts) are aware that she's invited a lot of heavy drinkers. ...she just assumes people in her cohort want to drink--they've been kidnapped to a strange city with many new things to offer, so why wouldn't they?

Ivan laughs. "I don't see you've done anything worth forgiving. But you can relax - it's a costume."

Ivan said he'd be on reasonably good behavior tonight, and he will be. Reasonably.

The relief is completely evident on her face. "Thank God. I was worried there, for a minute."

...So, no, somehow it did not occur to her that maybe a priest in an adult nightclub was weird or anything.

She holds out a hand, smiling. "I'm Rachel."

He raises his eyebrows, but takes her hand. "Ivan. Still jumpy around priests, then?"

In fairness, a vampire should probably make one jumpier than a priest, but it's not immediately evident what he is to the naked eye.

"It's nice to meet you, Ivan. And yeah." She shrugs a little, still smiling. "Catholic school from preschool to the twelfth grade, and then I went to a Jesuit university. So, just a little. Though you should see me around a nun, I kinda just want to run and hide when I come across those."

"Well, they are acknowledges to be a terrifying breed," he says with a laugh. "Though I suppose if we were going to find someone with a kink, this would be the place."

The evening has been up and down, thus far, and Ilde is a little bit wobbly on her heels when she slides into this conversation via her fingers hooking Ivan's belt-loop; she's been looking for him, since disentangling from a less pleasant conversation by the bar, and is more than willing to be brightened and distracted by--

Rachel's breasts. What, it's tradition now. "Hello, ladies," she says, blithely. "If there isn't someone here who wants to be flogged by a nun, I've lost faith in humanity." Pro-tip: Ilde doesn't have any of that.

It is tradition. Rachel stands up a little straighter, pushing her chest out just a bit, grinning. "They deserved a night out too," she says, with a laugh. Thank God Ivan's not a legit priest, okay?

"And I guess that's true. This is the place to find someone who wants that kind of treatment from a nun. Or--" and she eyes Ivan's pretend collar-- "someone who wants to give confession about just how much they've sinned."

"Lucky for me I'm here with someone completely shameless," he says, amused, tugging Ilde a bit closer. "Have you two met?"

In lieu of actually answering Ivan's question - or Ivan directly - Ilde pats his chest and leaves her hand there, explaining to Rachel, "This is 'nothing serious in Mafaton', he decided to keep me." Making him...something serious, in Mafaton?

She's had a couple of drinks.

Rachel nods, with the raised eyebrows and faint grin of oh I do see. It's nice. Because she's a total sap and thinks it's always nice when people are clearly doing... whatever, together.

Hush, she's been drinking too.

She turns her attention to Ivan, that smile softening into something more friendly. "I've known Ilde... pretty much the whole time I've been in this city, seems like."

"Ah. And yet she's kept us so cleverly separated up until now. I wonder what that implies." Probably nothing except the fact that Ivan is mildly anti-social and the other friends of Ilde's he's met have mainly disapproved of her dating a vampire.

[rhinemaid]

"I think we met when Sonja and I arrived?" Ilde tilts her head for a moment, trying to recall the details; that was...an interesting day, and parts of it are a little blurry. (Large parts, actually, and she'd been sort of on auto-pilot for a while afterwards.) "Ignore him, he thinks catholic school girl jokes are clever."

Rachel thinks a moment, and then she nods. "That sounds about right. That wasn't long after I got here, if I'm remembering correctly." It was so long ago now, it was hard to pinpoint the day. Ilde wasn't the only one who found a blur when she looked back at those early days.

And she laughs politely at Ilde's admonition, but she's far too polite to ever actually ignore someone.

"I was just trying for thematically appropriate. The Catholic part was your idea." Ivan says it lightly, in good humor. To Rachel, he says, "Regardless, it's a pleasure to meet you."
