A Rally in Support of the Hungry Few

Who: The City
What: A Rally in Support of Cruorvores.
Where: Mercer's Square, Aspic
When: AT A CLEVER TIME
Notes: Everyone is welcome, including curious neutrals. NPCs available on request. OOC post.
Warnings: A general spirit of solidarity may be present.

Word has been spreading over the network and on the street. Leaflets have been available at open minded public houses and restaurants. A few of the city's more prominent inhabitants have organized a rally to show support for cruorvore citizens. It is going to be a public event; sanctioned, the leaflet assures, by the state. Speeches will be made, the true colours of the city will be shown. There is a lot of talk about standing up to the sowers of discord.

As the evening of the rally approaches, more and more people gather in the square. All sorts have come out for the event, xenians, humans and people who defy categorization mingle peacefully. A cat watches the proceedings from on top the stage has been erected to one end. The stage has been draped in banners promoting tolerance and acceptance, and small sign near the bottom proclaims it was built with the kind donations from Bloody Sunday, The Zygoda, Howl's Market and certain private citizens, of which there is a list. Some attendees have brought instruments and casually strike up a tune every now and then. Others have brought food, signs or torches as the rally promises to continue well into the night.

The lentil-lady looks a little put out. In her mind, she surely dreams of carrot stick pelting vengeance. Asbjørn, however, presses his lips together in a sort of 'welp' expression, and tries not to smile too obviously at Fish.

"Heyyy." The word is deliberately stretched out, his eyes swerving to the side in a sign that he would really like to make a bid for freedom. "Not much. I thought I'd check out what's happening." Any sort of opposition to anti-xenian sentiment is something he's interested in.

Well, too bad for lentil lady, because her would-be client—rather, never-would-be client—is being stolen and the thief is ignoring her face off.

"Same. I wasn't really sure what to expect... there's like way more vegetables than I thought. Uh, let's get outta the way here, we're blockin traffic."

"Yeah, it's a weird analogy." Something about it bothered him -equating a need with a lifestyle choice, maybe- but then he'd never entirely agreed with vegetarianism.

He leads them away to a quieter area where they're free to shoot the breeze. "So how have things been, now you don't have to put up with my drunken ass in the small hours of the morning?" It's a casual enough enquiry, but he really has been wondering. And wondering how to wonder without coming across as too invasive. He cares, okay.

Hee hee. That gets a crooked little grin from Fish as he kind of sways to a halt, folding his arms across his chest. "Not too bad. Well, I mean, everything sucks right now, but the inn's still okay." La la la skimming that subject. "How're you gettin' along?"

Skipping is fine by him -it's kind of obvious things aren't rainbows and kittens right now. "Got a place! ...not a lot of furniture. A mattress, a beanbag and a couch someone was giving away for free. But it's not like I'll be throwing dinner parties any time soon."
fish: (what's the deal with hand-talking anyway)

[personal profile] fish 2011-09-20 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, they don't really tell you about it, but the furniture's the hard part. If you're not rich. I was on two sleeping bags for about a month before I could afford a bed... beanbags are the best, though. You end up feeling like you're like six no matter how you try sitting on it, it'll just put you in that one position..." He holds his arms up a little to illustrate, shoulders shrugged, miming the smushed-in-a-beanbag pose pretty well for being upright. "Maybe it's different for tall people, though."

"If I tip back far enough, my head touches the floor. Watching me get up again must be like looking at a really sad turtle." Think on that for a moment. "But I'd normally sleep on just a mattress anyway. I've given up on ever finding a bed I'll fit in that isn't made of cheap plywood." And because secretly he sometimes likes to sleep in bear form.
fish: (the pointiest mouth)

He will think on it, so there. It prompts a grin, even. "You'd need a king-sized one, too, right? That shit doesn't fit anywhere... unless your room is, like, huge. There's lots of big people in the city, though, like giants and stuff. I bet you could find somethin' that'd work."

[identity profile] sailorofthefloe.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"If I could actually find a giant's bed -twice my size or something- I would steal every pillow in this city and make it into a giant fort. And then it would be my apartment." Clearly this is why he was called to the city. Oh yes.
fish: (totally making words)

"Yeah!" This idea seems to excite him; the hand-talking really starts up. "You could just— the whole floor would be a mattress. Except for like a little space to keep your stuff, and a kitchen and bathroom n'at. Just a bed with a roof, basically. How comfy would that be."
