Well enough alone

Who: Raylan and Shiori
What: Running into one another following the same lead!
Where: Somewhere in Griss Twist.
When: ...whenever is convenient, I am not picky.
Notes: If we need to edit, let me know?
Warnings: None so far.

Though he was keeping in touch with Rachel (and a few other people he knew less well, like Integra), Raylan was a loner by nature, and wouldn’t seek out much socializing unless roped into it. He was waiting to hear back from the job office.

But in the meantime, the disappearances were starting to get to him. He’d sorted them mainly into two categories: removed from the Network and remaining on the Network. The popular theory was that the former group had been “sent home.” Raylan was skeptical. But even the most optimistic of the locals he talked to were worried about the other sort of disappearances. Those were termed unnatural, and Raylan resisted the urge to ask how people could tell.

He’d come to a run-down building in Griss Twist, tucked away in a forgotten corner. It was the last known location of someone who fell into the “disappeared but on the Network” category. Marshalls weren’t detectives, and Raylan had no illusions otherwise, but tracking people down was meant to be his specialty.

He’s poking around, cautiously, without disturbing the scene more than he needs to.

Tense as she is, Shiori can't help but smile at Raylan's Integra reference. "I have an idea." She takes a few steps into the room, looking around. Now that she's moderately sure she can trust this man - it really doesn't take much - she seems much more relaxed. "I'm Shiori Sakita. Ah, I'm a librarian. So you're here to investigate too, then." To say that Shiori is relieved would be putting it lightly.

"Mm. I agree." One of the people who'd disappeared was someone Shiori knew in passing from the House.

"Have you found anything?" Shiori begins her own search in earnest as she pulls on a pair of white cotton gloves. "All I know is that the man who was here is gone." Super illuminating, Shiori, tell us more. "I'm not really used to this sort of thing."

"That's true," Shiori says sadly. "I don't know which I'd prefer, though. That this house is a disheveled mess as if there had been a struggle or that he wasn't hurt..." At least with a struggle it would be easier to find evidence.

She shakes her head quickly. That's not something she wants to think. "I-if we can find something, something personal of his, I might be able to see." She leaves this statement vague and begins to search in earnest for something that fits the description.

"Well, personal if only to learn more about who he was - ah, is." For her part, Shiori isn't used to being so free and easy with talking about her psychometry, but she's an agent of Hellsing now, and this is her investigation. This is as much an adjustment for her as Raylan. "To start with."

She bites her lip, unsure. "Seeing memories, I suppose. There's, I'm not sure how, but there's some kind of emotional residue left over on, on everything. I can read it." That's the shortest, most apt explanation she's ever given.
