Sometimes she still forgot her life was going on. That she hadn't ended with the world.
Too much time in the fog was bad for you, they said. Best combat it with something.

Re: Later: moar drinking and karaoke at Asteroid X
There is, however, a drink with a near-unpronounceable name, pale lavender in color, that's rather like it. So much so that people tend to just ask for "that purple stuff that's like tequila".
Limes are hard to come by, but there's a fuzzy sort of blue thing that looks like a kiwi and tastes like a lime in abundance in the city, so they'll do, in a pinch. It's a bit more pulpy but after a couple of shots of that purple stuff that's like tequila you kind of don't care about all the pulp.
The roving karaoke party has taken up a couple of tables down near the stage. Rachel's spot is empty, but evidence of her being there, recently, sits on the table before her empty chair: an uncapped bottle of that purple stuff that's like tequila, with a fair amount gone; a shot glass that's a little sticky on the outside from fruit pulp; and a larger glass that holds the bitten remains of two and a half of those fruits that look like blue kiwis but taste like limes.
(Half a fruit suffices to chase down a shot of the purple stuff, they're small things.)
This scene probably goes a long way toward explaining why Rachel is not in her seat, but instead is on the stage.
And is further almost done competently belting out this song. She's no pop star, not an especially gifted singer, but there have been far worse up there tonight.
By the time she rejoins the rest of the group, someone else has taken the stage, and she has acquired a very large drink with what looks like part of an evergreen tree sticking out of it, and she looks very puzzled by this development.
after that: a bar somewhere in Griss Twist
and then: noraebang at a... place where that happens, idk
the end: a nightcap in Aspic or, as needed, faceplanting chez Kirk
