Though Ilde doesn't live with him, she's at his flat often enough that Ivan finds himself needing to do errands that it had been years since he needed to remember (grocery shopping, for example). Luckily, enough of the Mafaton population was nocturnal that he didn't need to brave the glare of midday to do so. It's early evening, and he's ventured out to take care of a few odds and ends; he may also pay a visit or two, as he's in a decent mood and feeling what passes for sociable, with him.

He'll probably feed. But, as always, on that matter he continues to be discreet.

Shrieky smiles quickly, flashing his teeth in a wide grin, "Yes! Ilde! That's who you smell like!" The sniffing is officially concluded now, and he leans back onto his heels slightly, "I take it you're a friend of hers? Who she shares her perfume with?"

He laughs at that description. "I suppose that's accurate. Ivan." He is aware that Ilde is much more proactively social than he is, though he's trying to remember if there's a description he should be matching a name to.

Ivan. Shrieky's fairly certain that he's heard Ilde mention that name to him before, but he's struggling to place when or what the context was, so he just smiles a little vacantly, "I'm-- uh, Mermaid."

Ilde probably hadn't been going around telling people that his name was Conway, that'd be a little awkward.

"Is that a name, a title, or a description?" Ivan's a bit skeptical, though he does remember Ilde mentioning a fellow water-dweller all the same.

"It's what I'm called." Shrieky replies, a little defensively, "What does it matter to you how I came to be called it?"

He raises his empty hand in mute apology. "Just wanted to be sure I didn't call you something you didn't care for." He would be a bit put out with someone who insisted on calling him 'Vampire,' after all.

Shrieky folds his arms, still slightly tense, but more forgiving than he would normally be. Friends of Ilde are special cases, after all.

"So how do you know her? I think she might have mentioned you to me at some point, but I can't recall why."

"We're seeing one another." He wasn't embarrassed, but he wasn't sure how much of her private life Ilde was sharing; she'd mentioned being protective, if he's the person Ivan is thinking of.

Then again, if she'd mentioned Ivan at all, it was probably more or less in that capacity.

"Yes, but what do you do when you see one another?" Shrieky saw Ilde as well, from time to time. Surely the fact that Ivan saw Ilde was to be taken as obvious, since she'd given him her perfume to wear?

"When I see her we mostly talk about being mermaids, and sometimes she plays the harp." He supplied, helpfully, so that Ivan would understand the question.

"We're seeing one another romantically," Ivan clarified with a bit of a smile. Presumably Shrieky doesn't want a detailed description of what Ivan and Ilde do when they see one another. At least not while he and Ivan are standing in the middle of the grocery store.

"Ro-- Oh..." Shrieky raised his eyebrows, and took a half a step back. It's not that he's bothered by Ilde having a romantic partner... well, not that he's going to admit that he's bothered by Ilde having a romantic partner, but he does feel that this warrants a new level of scrutiny when it comes to Ivan.

"And how did that come about?"

From the beginning, if you please.

Ivan's eyebrows lift, but he says mildly, "She said she'd fancy shagging me, and I thought it was a good idea as well."

"That doesn't sound very romantic." Shrieky observes, critically.

"That was how the seeing one another part came about," he said. "The romantic part came gradually over time."
