[OPEN]

Who: Charles Xavier & you.
What: Open post. Feel free to throw your characters at him.
Where: Mog Hill & Mafaton or somewhere in the central area of the city that your character is likely to bump into him.
When: Veerdi afternoon and evening.
Notes: None.
Warnings:  None.

With no afternoon appointments and no one needing his immediate help at the Glory Shada (he is a counselor, after all, and they tend to keep more regular hours), Charles decides to slip away from work early in order to window shop around the city. It's mostly to look at furniture and other essential household items, although bookshops and strange trinkets inevitably end up catching his eye. Every so often he can be seen in shops, snapping pictures on his CiD, enquiring after prices and how long someone will be able to keep a reservation. Occasionally he'll wander into a cafe for coffee or tea on the go, more to warm up on a chilly Ruundary than anything else.

While walking, he lets his mind idle around, picking up and sifting through passing thoughts as he goes. Despite some friendly warnings to be cautious and his own recent encounters with the unforeseen forces of Baedal, he really can't help himself at times.

Mog Hill, mid/late afternoon?

At the moment, Will is still mostly thinking about apartments. The spider thing he was testing earlier today (he's apparently decided to call all the experimental vehicles after the most familiar animal reference now) apparently did a lot better than the lady who made it had been expecting, so Will got a bonus – which is good, because the two other things he was slated for today both failed very quickly, if unspectacularly. That means there's more time for scuttling around looking at apartments, after he goes back to the Inn and changes out of his flight suit.

It doesn't get him looked at oddly, around here, and it's not uncomfortable, but he's not sure how it'll look to prospective landlords. And, now that he's actually making some money, he's got a couple of changes of clothing that he picked out himself. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a couple more, if he can do it relatively cheaply, so he pauses to peer at a shop window thoughtfully. Probably a bit too high end for him.

He goes in anyway, wandering past the clothing to what seems to be a random collection of small housewares. He picks up a mug, and then pauses, looking at someone taking a picture of a set of dishes. “Asking someone's opinion?” he asks, less nosy than just wanting to talk to someone.

Will smiles too, feeling a little bit – nostalgic might not be the right word, but it's the closest he can get. He never got to pick out china patterns or anything, but it was the same sort of domesticity. “That must be nice,” he says, turning the mug over in his hands. Then he catches sight of the price tag. Ouch. He sets it down carefully, turning his attention back to the other guy.

“I'm still looking for an apartment,” he says. “Figured it couldn't hurt to start looking at things for it early.” Maybe not here, though. Not until he saves up some more.

“I am,” Will says, with an illustrative little wave. “Newly employed, too,” he adds, gesturing at his outfit. Well, that's probably a little misleading, actually. He showed up in this. He tilts his head, still curious about the mechanics of the place. “How'd you end up here with a friend?”

“Oh,” Will says. He hadn't considered that, and he's not sure how to feel about it. Actually, no. Remembering the broadcast from last week, he knows he doesn't want any of them to end up here, even the ones he knows would adapt the best. He shakes himself out of it and offers a smile. “Well, he must be lucky to have you.”

Will's eyebrows go up, because that's the most direct way he's been asked, so far, but he doesn't mind, no. “I seem to be from further in the future than most people from Earth,” he says. “I'm not Terran, though. Well, I'm human -” depending on who's being asked, maybe, but those lurking suspicions don't matter, here, “- but I'm from space. Orbital space.” His abilities aren't particularly unique or powerful here, so far as he can tell, and he's seen plenty of people who seem more dangerous than he does just walking down the street. All he can do is predict what someone who wants to harm him is going to do a few seconds ahead of time. “What did you want to know?”

“That is interesting,” Will says, because he hadn't really considered that yet. He hasn't directly met anyone not from some version of Earth yet, or at least not anyone who's cared to tell him so, but he's probably seen some, he's guessing. “I'm not sure how far ahead I am,” he adds after a moment. “There was a big reorganization and the calendar system changed so where I'm from the year is 493.”

Will considers it, weight shifting thoughtfully. “Has anyone ever tried plotting it out?” he says. That's probably a major undertaking, considering the amount of people in the city, but maybe it would help clarify... everything. Why they're here, how it happens. Why them.

Will nods, slowly. Maybe he should look into that. Do some digging. It makes sense that people who have been here longer would have a better handle on it. “There are so many different kinds of people here,” he says after a moment. “It's a bit boggling.”
