[OPEN]

Who: Charles Xavier & you.
What: Open post. Feel free to throw your characters at him.
Where: Mog Hill & Mafaton or somewhere in the central area of the city that your character is likely to bump into him.
When: Veerdi afternoon and evening.
Notes: None.
Warnings:  None.

With no afternoon appointments and no one needing his immediate help at the Glory Shada (he is a counselor, after all, and they tend to keep more regular hours), Charles decides to slip away from work early in order to window shop around the city. It's mostly to look at furniture and other essential household items, although bookshops and strange trinkets inevitably end up catching his eye. Every so often he can be seen in shops, snapping pictures on his CiD, enquiring after prices and how long someone will be able to keep a reservation. Occasionally he'll wander into a cafe for coffee or tea on the go, more to warm up on a chilly Ruundary than anything else.

While walking, he lets his mind idle around, picking up and sifting through passing thoughts as he goes. Despite some friendly warnings to be cautious and his own recent encounters with the unforeseen forces of Baedal, he really can't help himself at times.

Uh-huh. But, not having any actual reason to suspect otherwise, he decides to accept that response. "The same thing I do anywhere else," implying that the location is the variable, yes, not whether or not he's bored (he's always bored); "Endeavor to alleviate it."

Which he could do by engaging in conversation with another person, admittedly. He gives an almost imperceptibly brief glance ahead to the rest of the line, then back to Charles, as if weighing his options.

She looks at him a bit more closely. "What year did you come from, if you don't mind me asking?"

It honestly hadn't occurred to her that he (and Erik) could be her versions. But she supposes it's possible, at this young.

And run she will. "Personal interest. We were doing Italy in school before I left home."

This is not a lie. They were touching on Italy in World History, but granted that Kate hasn't seen a school in a couple years now, it's doubtfult she remembered actually having an interest.

Will's eyebrows go up, because that's the most direct way he's been asked, so far, but he doesn't mind, no. “I seem to be from further in the future than most people from Earth,” he says. “I'm not Terran, though. Well, I'm human -” depending on who's being asked, maybe, but those lurking suspicions don't matter, here, “- but I'm from space. Orbital space.” His abilities aren't particularly unique or powerful here, so far as he can tell, and he's seen plenty of people who seem more dangerous than he does just walking down the street. All he can do is predict what someone who wants to harm him is going to do a few seconds ahead of time. “What did you want to know?”

Don't get too pleased, Chuck. It's still a front.

"Oh, yeah, that's pretty cool," Kate replies, hesitant he's actually going to test her on these things. The book is shoved away even harder now. "I wouldn't expect anything less from you."

She does some quick math, but it doesn't really help; she's already been told timelines don't align perfectly. She nods, though, and says, "I never knew the version of you in my world, but you're sort of famous. That's why I... I heard a lot about you, my whole life, so it's sort of weird meeting you. I mean, good, but really weird."

In 1962, in her world, he'd still be alive, but she's not sure whether he'd have been 27. She supposes it doesn't matter.

"It'd be hard to have any ongoing, open hostility, it'd turn the city into a war zone," which is probably not quite what Charles meant, but Steph is thinking of how Gotham turned during No Man's Land, and then during the gang war that tore the city apart (a thought usually accompanied by a wave of guilt).

"It might help that everyone has another enemy to focus on." The militia, and while everyone may not actually consider them the bad guys, they're still enough of a threat to everyone that they kind of count as a shared enemy.

“That is interesting,” Will says, because he hadn't really considered that yet. He hasn't directly met anyone not from some version of Earth yet, or at least not anyone who's cared to tell him so, but he's probably seen some, he's guessing. “I'm not sure how far ahead I am,” he adds after a moment. “There was a big reorganization and the calendar system changed so where I'm from the year is 493.”

Down those few front steps they shall go, then—there's a porch out front, you see—the whole thing is so bloody charming it'll make you sick—and off down the street at a leisurely pace. Yes, Erik keeps in mind that his legs are about a hundred miles longer than his friend's are. No, it does not bother him in the least. He's happy to have a break from those two, frankly.

"I thought I'd take the main floor bedroom." Because of its strategic position, no doubt, and the fact that it is not so enclosed as that wizard's-tower type thing the second bedroom has going on.

The bump of Charles's arm inspires a glance first, and only afterward a smile, directed forward, his gaze lowered momentarily to the ground several paces ahead. It's a nominal show of modesty that few can inspire.

He is certainly not about to dwell on the feeling, so he moves on to teasing instead: "So, exactly how much shopping did you do today?"

"I think you're right." She doesn't say anything more than that on the subject, but listens to Charles' question and explanation.

"I don't mind, it's one of the things I like to ask people and I've been wondering the same," About if there's a reason they're here. She takes a sip of her coffee as she decides what to say, not because she's trying to hide anything, it's just hard to pick what's relevant, "My world is pretty normal, just... Earth, from the early 21st Century, but we've got superheroes. That seems to be the big difference; other people I've talked to only know of superheroes 'cause of comic books, if they know of them at all."

She can't decide whether she feels sorry for the worlds without superheroes or if she should be jealous. On one hand, there are probably a lot less messes to deal with but... she can't imagine living in a world without Superman.
