This answer, if given before his initial impression of her, might have been enough to send him on his way. But Jason doesn't quite believe that anymore. It might be partially or even completely true, and he may be wrong — it's happened, he's scouted a lot of people so far and rejected many — yet the answer and the way it's given spurs him on.
