'Competence' is one of those things that Ilde uses to judge whether or not someone else is allowed to care about her - Remy isn't delicate, like her father, so it's all right to just make a face at him and go when he beckons. If she won't actually give him an answer then at least she fails to pretend there isn't a question to be asked, slinking into his personal space like a cat that thinks she's being very sneaky, leaning into the side of him (a little tension eases, not much) and watching Erik from her new vantage point.
