At least he starts off slowly, unused to bearing the weight of an extra person. When he's certain Ruby is able to stay on, and he becomes more comfortable with his movements, he starts to pick up the pace. It's not quite a run but it's significantly more than a slow plod.

It won't take them long to reach the end of the forest at this rate.
