"You eventually get used to it, though I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing." Even back in the other place, Kate was unsure if becoming complacent with the environment was giving up or adapting. There's a big difference between the two and one option is something Kate isn't fond of. She's fought too long and too hard just to hand her fate over to mysterious alternate dimensions just because exits were hard to find. "You settle in, find a place, get a job, and live.
