A Rally in Support of the Hungry Few
Who: The City
What: A Rally in Support of Cruorvores.
Where: Mercer's Square, Aspic
When: AT A CLEVER TIME
Notes: Everyone is welcome, including curious neutrals. NPCs available on request. OOC post.
Warnings: A general spirit of solidarity may be present.
Word has been spreading over the network and on the street. Leaflets have been available at open minded public houses and restaurants. A few of the city's more prominent inhabitants have organized a rally to show support for cruorvore citizens. It is going to be a public event; sanctioned, the leaflet assures, by the state. Speeches will be made, the true colours of the city will be shown. There is a lot of talk about standing up to the sowers of discord.
As the evening of the rally approaches, more and more people gather in the square. All sorts have come out for the event, xenians, humans and people who defy categorization mingle peacefully. A cat watches the proceedings from on top the stage has been erected to one end. The stage has been draped in banners promoting tolerance and acceptance, and small sign near the bottom proclaims it was built with the kind donations from Bloody Sunday, The Zygoda, Howl's Market and certain private citizens, of which there is a list. Some attendees have brought instruments and casually strike up a tune every now and then. Others have brought food, signs or torches as the rally promises to continue well into the night.

"Sure, but when one of those in-laws is Magneto... I think I'd rather deal with alien invasions."
no subject
... Then again, there's a world of difference between 'dating someone Magneto is jealous over' and 'dating Magneto's daughter.' "Seems like he's about my age or younger here, though, so ... who knows how that'll go."
no subject
Billy makes... an interesting face. "The age thing is kind of weird. I was just getting used to dealing with him at age... white-haired and kidnappy." Precise.
no subject
... Anyway.
"X-gene'll mess with aging anyway," he remarks, idle. "'Bout, what, seventy-five?" He sticks his hands in his pockets. Gambit is very familiar with Magneto and his current activities. "No matter how young he is, we still gotta keep an eye on him."
no subject
Work that he is not putting in.
"Seventy-five, really? At least I know I'll age well." If he survives being a teen hero, anyway. "I know, we should. ... Although that was never a Young Avengers thing until recently, the keeping an eye on Magneto and working out just how he's using us to take over the world today... thing." A Thing which is all his fault, of course.

"It's an everybody thing, when we're shorthanded and in closed spaces," he says, easy. "It ain't any fist fights I worry 'bout, though."
No, while Erik can be deadly, especially if he really gets momentum, it's old strategy. Instead: "He gets people close. He uses 'em. The things he did - does - to people." Remy shakes his head. That's the worst part; Magnus can manipulate people like nothing else. Of course he's going to worry with the man in inescapable close proximity to people he loves.

"Yeah... I know - I've heard about a few things, I mean. I doubt I know the whole story. Probably no-one but Magneto does. But, yeah, I know he likes to use people. I'm just not sure how to translate knowing that into stopping him from doing it, still. I mean... we knew he was bad news, but we still took him with us to Latveria. Of course, it was that or leave him to fight the Avengers and have... even more people angry with us. Why is nothing ever simple?"
He is maybe worried about Wanda and Tommy. Okay, especially Tommy, all things considered.
no subject
Especially for his family.
"... We're all connected. Blood or not." Mutants, vigilantes. ...Boyfriends.
"It's not like fightin' somebody. You can't ever stop someone who uses people from tryin'. All you can do is refuse to play along."
no subject
But everyone has connections that maybe they don't like, that cause them trouble even if they do, and they just have to deal with it. Although at home, sometimes that dealing with it would involve magicking himself and his friends the heck away from whatever, at least long enough to get some breathing space, and that's not exactly an option here.
"I guess we just have to show him we're not going to play along, from the start. And that I'll totally magic him into Frogneto if he steps out of line."
"At least there are some good connections we have here."
no subject
He sounds more upbeat at that, and shoots Billy a look, giving him a bit of an encouraging smile. Between being aware and having the four of them to support each other, it's not gonna be that bad.
"You know, my last pseudo-parent-in-law as Mystique. She tried actively to kill my ass for years and she couldn't get it done. Erik's like what, thirty? We'll all be fiiine."
(It can always be worse.)
no subject
Billy is happy about approximately none of that.
"We totally have him outclassed in terms of experience, don't we? I bet he hasn't even faced any alien invasions." Pause - slightly awed realisation sinks in. "Oh my god, we're more badass than Magneto."
