A Rally in Support of the Hungry Few

Who: The City
What: A Rally in Support of Cruorvores.
Where: Mercer's Square, Aspic
When: AT A CLEVER TIME
Notes: Everyone is welcome, including curious neutrals. NPCs available on request. OOC post.
Warnings: A general spirit of solidarity may be present.

Word has been spreading over the network and on the street. Leaflets have been available at open minded public houses and restaurants. A few of the city's more prominent inhabitants have organized a rally to show support for cruorvore citizens. It is going to be a public event; sanctioned, the leaflet assures, by the state. Speeches will be made, the true colours of the city will be shown. There is a lot of talk about standing up to the sowers of discord.

As the evening of the rally approaches, more and more people gather in the square. All sorts have come out for the event, xenians, humans and people who defy categorization mingle peacefully. A cat watches the proceedings from on top the stage has been erected to one end. The stage has been draped in banners promoting tolerance and acceptance, and small sign near the bottom proclaims it was built with the kind donations from Bloody Sunday, The Zygoda, Howl's Market and certain private citizens, of which there is a list. Some attendees have brought instruments and casually strike up a tune every now and then. Others have brought food, signs or torches as the rally promises to continue well into the night.

"For now." Doesn't he sound upbeat. The moment of extra seriousness passes, though, and he takes to looking curious instead. "How can you pick out the daywalkers?"

"Practice," she says simply before going into a little more detail. "It's a bit like going to a foreign country and being able to spot someone from your own town. How do you explain that you can tell by the way they nod their head, their gestures, that they tie their shoes the same way you learned to, that you know they must be from your village, even if you've never met."

While it does explain how she's able to do it, Njoki doesn't offer much in the way of details.

"Mm, that makes sense. I must admit, before coming here I had never even thought to consider the undead in terms of an independent culture. The stories back home don't exactly paint them in a sympathetic light." Not that he's an expert on vampire literature, or anything.

"And how many of those stories are written by cruorvores?" Njoki shrugs before looking through the crowd, focusing her attention on someone and then shaking it off to return back to the conversation at hand. "It's like that with any subculture. Unless you're on the inside, you're missing half the dialogue, eh?"

"Very true. That lack of understanding is the cause of a great many issues, isn't it?" There does still linger the sense that he's not necessarily discussing this subject as a stranger to prejudice, but he is, at least, speaking with less gravity. "It's a good opportunity, this. Growing one's knowledge of a people beyond popular folk tales."

And it's a bit humbling too, in a way, but he is proud to be more open-minded than most when it comes to monsters.

"I've been told that there are even vampire melons somewhere in the city." While it's possibly Ki is joking, it's just as likely that she's telling the truth and finds it funny. "I should head back. Once the sun's down, I'll have more to do."

(Fact: Hellsing does have a pet vampire melon. Sebastian named it Hagrid.)
magnetic: (more or less agreeable)

"No doubt," he says, most good-naturedly, offering one of his long hands for another shake. "It's been a pleasure, Ki. Stay safe out there."

"You too, Erik." Njoki shakes his hand again before heading off through the crowd and toward Mafaton. She'll stop a few times along the way and check up on people she recognizes and Erik will likely be able to hear her whooping cackle of a laugh at few more times.
