He also hasn't said he isn't actually going to, so she placidly continues to push; there are always three versions of something, yours, theirs and the truth. They've already been over how much she likes to know as many of these as she can, and it doesn't seem unreasonable in light of present situations. (Around them, not with them- he could always point out he doesn't owe her any explanation and she'd suppose he wouldn't be wrong.)

The whole thing puts her teeth on edge. It's not that she doesn't understand mistrusting people-eating predators, or even that she imagines vampires to be misunderstood and well-meaning, but in the eyes of all too many people there isn't that much of a leap from them to everyone else.
