Given his size, Hellboy is paradoxically used both to being given a wide berth by people and also to being bumped into by accident. Her impact does not, in fact, cause him any harm. His reaction is instead to hold his hands out, ready to catch her in case her reaction to the collision throws her off balance. When she manages to get herself turned around without falling over, he pulls his hands away from the general catching vicinity.
