Simply by dint of being much less drunk than her little friend here, Katherine is probably still going to end up leading - however informally. There's probably a broader metaphor for Ilde's life and sense of identity in her comfort in following someone else's lead, but it's out of her grasp right now and besides, she doesn't really like that kind of self-awareness.
