coffeeking: (is that my diary?)

"It wasn't you," Ianto was quick to remind him, "You haven't done anything wrong, Jack. She just has to remember that."

He let his thoughts drift back to how Cassandra's story started, as best as he could remember it, and began with, "There was a city, on the coast of what's now modern Turkey, called Troy..."

He continued to chronicle the legend of the Trojan War in languid tones, relaxing into the tale and weaving it with the sort of easy enthusiasm one should always have for epic tales. He smirked a little when he talked about the Trojan Horse, and made reference to the modern day computer virus. Cassandra's story was a sad one, but it was part of a greater story that defined European culture for millennia after its end, and still had an effect.

Eventually, he tapered off. "I can't quite remember what legend says happened to Cassandra after the fall of Troy. She said she was about to be murdered when she was spirited off to some other world, so for all I know, the tales might say her murderer succeeded."
