All things considered, Martel's position is at least halfway successful; Balthier could be the sort of man who didn't recognize Martel for what he is, or worse, Balthier could be the sort of man who looked at Martel and asked. He has sight, yes, but he has a functioning mind, too, and he doesn't want Martel to ask him anything any more than Martel wants anything asked of him.
