"Air's not always intangible," he says, a shrug in his voice. "Skyseas, the jagd borders - up by the sky continents there's so many storms and anomalies made by the mist the magicite mines that currents are as real and torrential as any maelstrom."

He leans on the railing, watching out over the water, and the way it kicks up against the side of the boat as they skim along. "Gravity's the difference. Drawbacks and aids in each direction - on water you've got one up, one down, no worrying about dampeners, which way you're falling, that sort of thing. But then, there's nowhere to get out, either."
