If he had lied, the situation would have gone from bad to worse in an instant. It would have made her reaction and everything else about this magnified by a thousand when the truth had ended up coming out. It said something about her comfort level with him that she wasn't wearing his clothing with the intention to seduce him. It was more that it was there, and that it was comfortable. It hadn't even started with the idea of doing it; more that she liked to feel like he was around even when he wasn't.
In her mind, she'd connected his sulking to something related to the missing year (it'd crossed her mind about how now there were two years that weren't in her life time. There was one she desperately wanted to remember and one that she desperately wanted to forget.) She'd thought that it would explain some things, including the way he was drinking.
Martha'd reached for the refilled glass, but her hand stopped almost comically when he mentioned that Lily was there. Funny, she would have thought that there'd be a moment of confusion-'Lily who' and the like- but she knew of course whom he'd meant, who it was and why he was sitting here alone and drinking.
"Oh." For a moment she didn't know what else to say. Lily Potter, here in Baedal. Lily Potter now when things were already in a place that was already awkward and there were already tremors in the foundation of their marriage. Releasing a deep breath, she just reached for the glass and drained it in one gulp, because she didn't know what to say or how to react to it either.
