Even though there's a lot about Shrieky's anger that ruffles Jae's feathers, he feels like it's something he could do with being exposed to. He takes the idea of camaraderie on the cohort seriously, as well, because being abducted and trapped has been so personally traumatic for Jae.
And there's just the fact that he himself doesn't like being without anything to do for so long. He gets lonely, and then he starts stressing. It's better to be social.
