Although there is nothing Mycroft would like so much as to return to the inn as expediently as possible with whatever further reading material he'll soon be collecting, his nature demands that he reap all possible benefits out of the current exchange before he misses his chance at them. Putting in a word at the correct moment can be enough to change the course of an entire lifetime. Mycroft should know. He's had a hand in changing the lives of many people.
