When Jay sees Alter climbing the mountain of discarded equipment, he didn't think of how dangerous it was. He thought it looked like a good idea. There were a few parts he needed that he hadn't been able to find around the bottom of the piles, and it made perfect sense that the better stuff was probably at the top, or deep within the piles, where no one could reach it. Since he didn't want to cause an avalanche by digging, Jay began to climb as well.

Once he got high enough that he was within a few yards of her, Jay called over to her while holding up a hand to indicate something about the size of a quarter. "If you see a gear about this big and thick enough to stand up to eight pounds of pressure, let me know! Or any servos. I can always use those in something."
